My son Dean was diagnosed with type 1 two weeks after his high school graduation in 2006 and 3 months before he left for The Ohio State University. I’m very thankful we were able to get him right on an insulin pump and covered by insurance. He'll give the CGM a try in June. I'm so grateful at how my son has taken care of himself since diagnosis. :cwds:

The rest of my family is rounded out with another son non D who is 16, my husband of 23 years (thank you God for his engineering mind), and our white miniature schnauzer pup Lacey who is well-behaved but barks way too much:o.

Laurie, Thanks for sharing some info about yourself with us.. :) We too have a little snazucher but our's is black.. And she is no where near well behaved..

I bet the diagnosis threw you - just as he was leaving for college. That would be a lot to adjust to. He sounds like he's doing well!

I bet the diagnosis threw you - just as he was leaving for college. That would be a lot to adjust to. He sounds like he's doing well!

Karen, just as I panic he only has 3 months before college - I'm grateful we had 3 months to learn and adjust, ya know? Dropping him off at OSU dorm freshman year after diagnosis, probably one of the most difficult days of my life. He's a great kid. :cwds:
