WestinsMom

I'm Michelle, Westin's mom. Westin was diagnosed at 2, he is now 10 1/2. He started pumping at 4. In 2005 he was diagnosed with celiac. He had no symptoms but it was caught in a routine blood test. In 2004 we pulled him out of the 1st grade and started homeschooling due to the schools and my disagreements over his diabetes care. We now love homeschooling and have no intentions of sending him back, unless it is what he wants down the road. Of course at 10, he says no way, never! :) In June of 2007 we put him on cgms and can't imagine life without that invaluable data.
I also have a 2 year old boy, Wieland, and a 35 year old boy, Jason (husband):D Wieland is the exact opposite of his brother, so outgoing and loud. Jason is self employed and very creative. We have been married 12 years.
I consider D care my hobby?! But I also help with our business, taking care of the books and other odds and ends. I hold my close friends very close. My oldest son would say that I can't go anywhere without knowing someone! In reality I think I am just really friendly and talk to everyone...so he thinks I must know them. I know that really bothered me about my mom when I was a kid.
Speaking of my mom, she passed at age 50 when I was 26, almost 27. She battled a rare form of breast cancer for 2 years before it took her from us. I push diabetes so much, that I sometimes don't get in my quota of Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) awareness information. So here ya go: If you see ANY change in your breast, see your doctor. Breast cancer doesn't have to be a lump. If you have swelling, change in texture, hot to the touch, dimpling, etc. ask your doctor about IBC. If they say you have mastitis and antibiotics don't clear it up in a week or so, ask for a skin biopsy. For more info, check out www.ibcresearch.org (there, I feel better now:p)
Oh, and I am a big Dave Ramsey fan, though I have yet to scream, "I'm Debt Free!"
