I am sitting here counting to 900 to hopefully prevent myself from strangling my dufus 15 year old son..
A few weeks ago I found a great used washing machine that I bought and put out on the back porch. Apparently last night Kelton decided that he needed to wash his rock collection in my washing machine..Small rocks wouldn't have been bad, but he did not wash his small rocks, he decided for some idiotic reason to wash the larger rocks.
I went out to start a wash this morning and when I opened the lid to the washer I noticed that the agitator was missing and there was a lot of water in the washer..After placing my hand inside I managed to find parts of the agitator as well as many large rocks...
The biggest rock in the washer is too heavy for me to lift out, it has to weigh at least 40 pounds or more.
There is also water leaking from somewhere inside the washer, it is still leaking even after I turned off the water supply..
It is almost time for me to wake Kelton up for his Levemir shot, I do not know what I should say to him at this point if anything..
I am still counting..
Would anyone like to give a 15 year old boy a good home? Just do not allow him near a washing machine..

OH MY!! LOL.. I know this has to be frustrating, my question would be why wash your rocks in the washing machine, but them in the bath tub.. lol

I'll take him. He sounds really curious and clever. Ever see those little rock tumbler machines that make rocks smooth? He may have hoped to do the same with boulders from your neighborhood.

He wasn't thinking correctly? I bought him a large Rubbermaid tub he can use to wash his rocks in..I even got him a scrub brush just for his rocks, got him his own soap, toothbrushes to get in the small grooves..
HUGE SIGH...

Oh my goodness. My husband has a machine that he cleans his rocks in , if he used my washing machine, I would have to kill him and then dispose of the body.
Since you cant do that with Kelton , not sure what to tell you to do.
Are you still counting ?

Ellen, he is a great kid, he loves nature, science, I even have him interested in reading about history..
I am not mad at him, just frustrated at the moment..
I am going to look into getting him a rock tumbler for the smaller rocks, he has thousands of them (the smaller ones)
The large rock was found when he was digging in the front yard, since we are in the desert all we have for a yard is sand, and he loves to dig to see what he can find..
I believe it is a volcanic type of rock, very interesting looking, but heavy..and sitting where it is not supposed to be..In my washing machine

LOL! I've had flash drives, video game memory cards, test strips, straws from school milk, pocket knives, love notes from girls, arrowheads, batteries, house keys, billfolds, markers, pens, hotwheels, whole packs of gum, and yes, his D necklace go through the washer but never boulders!
I've got my hands full with mine, but do you wanna swap for a week? He can dig the rocks out of the dirt in my yard, might be a nice change of pace. I have a whole creek of sandstone.

I am not yet at the point where I am looking at this and being able to laugh..I am at the point of mourning over the loss of my washer..
The child is doing his school work and I have been thinking of ways to get even LOL..Just kidding, well sort of..
I called Mark at work and when I told him what happened he started laughing  then told me he will look at it when he gets home from work tonight. If it can't be fixed then he will take the drum out and use it for a fire pit, and get me another machine..
I believe that Mark is actually hoping that it is not fixable so he can have a fire pit

I have not had my coffee or my breakfast yet, and have almost no energy to unleash anything, plus I am dealing with my own D related issue that came on last night..I am not in my full form so to speak..Lucky for Kelton..Otherwise I might have grounded him for life.

LOL being a mom to many boys this post sure did make me feel not so alone any more...lol I thought I was the only one to find strange things in the wash...like worms ..did you know if you dry worms in the dryer they get nice and crunchy..lol I also found a live snake in the dryer..the boys thought he was cold:eek:
KeltonsMom
05-13-2008, 01:24 PM
OK..I suppose a rock is not bad compared to a snake..Or worms..
Now if I had found a snake, everyone all over the world would have been able to hear my scream
I have to laugh at the thought of crunchy worms in the dryer LOL..

Well now that you mention it, I believe I did hear you scream :D
All snakes scare me, it doesn't matter if they are harmless and small, I do not like them and I not only scream when I see one, I will also crash into everything in my path to get far away from them. And if there is a human in my path, they will get knocked down when I run over them, same goes for walls, and trees, fences..You get the idea..

This certainly puts the 4 hours we spent trying to get the ink off the drum of the dryer in perspective.

Ah, the joys of washing ink pens..Been there many times
Between the alcohol swabs, fingernail polish remover, WD-40 and placing a wet towel in the dryer for a spin, my dryer still has ink stains..But they do not transfer to clothes anymore..

When my husband and I first started dating I found CAR PARTS in the dishwasher! :p I never could use the dishwasher for dishes - they'd always be greasy.
Sounds like Mark & Kelton had a conspiracy - clean rocks and a fire pit! Why don't you ask them if they are going to wash all the clothes by hand until the machine gets fixed.

LMAO!! I am not going to mention what gets put in our dishwasher  Or why men find it easier to just put items in the dishwasher instead of hand washing things..
Well this weekend we go back to the Central Valley to our other house and there we have an old cruddy washing machine that does not spin for the rinse cycle..I have informed both Kelton and Mark that when we are here that if they want clean clothes that they can march down to the laundromat that is 3 miles down the road from us. :D
Considering that Mark was not surprised that a large boulder was washed in the machine, makes me wonder if he is the one that placed it in there
That's ok, if this one is broken beyond repair I will pick out a new one and not allow anyone other than myself to touch it..

You may have an idea to send to the washing machine manufacturers - allow the user to input a code in order to operate it:p

Actually, I will put the new washer in the shed, it has electric and water routed to it and then I will padlock the door :D

Nope..The washer broke before the rocks came clean, although the water in the washer is as clear as mud...

Oh boy Teddi! I'm pretty sure Tom will LHAO when I show him this. I'm grateful that he only collects empty Rock Star and Monster cans.
Jenn knows how to use the laundry machines, somewhat. I shudder to think how she abuses the ones at school.
Tom knows only how to 1) run down and lift the lid to throw the last minute t-shirt in, and 2) run down and get his clean jeans out of the dryer.
I use the term "run" very loosely. "Ambling" is what I would call his top speed.
DH has never since we've lived here touched either the washer or dryer.
I'd like to see the finished fire pit!

LOL..Well I will post a picture of the fire pit when the drum has been taken out of the washer..
I will admit, it will make a nice fire pit, place the drum in a hole in the ground, put wood in it add charcoal lighter fluid to it and lite a match and stand back and watch it burn..

Never tried the dishwasher because I know I'd be dead meat if I did but I have used the bath tub and kitchen sink as a parts washer. Sharons cool with it provided I clean up my mess.
As far as washing rocks in a washing machine, that's just too funny in fact it sound like something our boys would do. I'm just going to make sure they don't read this post so they don't get any ideas.

You can show them this post but make sure you explain to them that if they try this little stunt then they will have to buy their mother a brand new washing machine of her choice :D
My guess is they won't try it knowing they will have to fork over their own money to buy a new washer ;)

Yeah. Girls are just as bad. Rick came in one day to his daddy, carrying a kitchen knife. Deirdre followed behind, and her hands were red. Dad freaked for a bit, until he realized that Rick was just bringing him the knife, and Deirdre had gotten into the Red Hots.

LOL, Sorry to hear about the washing machine.
This reminded me of when my kids where little. Kelly was 3 1/2 and her brother was 2. I just bought a brand new car. Right off the showroom floor. LOVED IT!! never bought one brand new. anyways......
We lived out in the country on a dead end street. Was safe to let them play out in the yard and i was cleaning the house. I could hear them playing out side and thought all was ok, as long as i could hear them.
Noooooooo.........
They had been out WASHING mommys new car with ROCKS. One was putting the rocks on the car, while the other was moving them around on it with the broom.
Hubby comes in from work, and asked me if i new what the kiddies where up to outside? I said yes.
He says, hmmmm. ok, I'll get the kids and i'll be right back in.
He brings the kids in and takes them to their room to play and is standing like he's guarding the door. I asked. What are you doing? He said, Go look at your car and you'll know why I'm standing here.
I thought I was going to have a stroke right there in the drive. My new car (less then 1 month old) had rocks all over the hood, top, and trunk) there was scratches ALL over it all the way down to the metal.
counting to 900 was not enough.
I went back in the house, tears in my eyes and grabbed the car keys. Told hubby I need to be away from the children for a bit and was going to go wash the car. He said, yep. and until your gone. I'm guarding this door.
I never did have it fixed. It would have cost way to much. I drove that car for 10 years and eventually was able to laugh when asked how the scratches got there.
To this day i still tell them, I do not need any help washing the car.

That's funny timing. Must be a boy thing because I just found 6 rocks in my washing machine this morning. Grant had collected them in his pocket (he thinks they are dinosaur fossils), but didn't take them out before putting his pants in the laundry basket. Luckily, his rocks were the size of apricots and my washer still works. I did wondered why my machine was making so much noise last night, but I was too tired to go look LOL! Sorry your rocks were the big variety and broke your machine.
