Please pray for my cousin who is in a diabetic coma. She has been in a coma for 2 days now. We were told that her body was under such stress that it gave out.

I hope this doesn't sound ignorant, but how did that happen? I assume she went into DKA? Was she sick otherwise? Just not taking care of herself?
This is probably one of the biggest nightmares for all of us parents, and anything that you can shed light on in terms of prevention would be appreciated!

She was not feeling well. She had an abcess tooth & a ingrown hair that got infected. She did go into DKA. She did not know about the ingrown hair. She had an appointment for the tooth but she did not make it to the appointment due to she went into the coma.
Does anyone know how long they can be in a coma? I thought she would have came out of it by now. We went to the hospital to see her and my son was with me, he asked me what happened to her. I had to tell him she was in a coma, he asked if it was because of diabetes, I told him yes it is. He said I hope that never happens to me. That just about broke my heart.

Wow, I am so sorry for everyone having to deal with this and also feel very sorry for the situation that she is. That is just terrible. I will be going to bed shortly and will say a prayer for her and the family.:o

Sorry to hear about your cousin.. I hope that she gets better.. I know that they can stay in a coma for awhile to answer your question.. My grandmother was in a diabetic coma for 2 weeks. And her kidneys quit working.. I hope that this doesn't happen with your cousin.. I will say a prayer for you and your family..

She woke up!!!!:D
She is eating now and is talking. I am so glad. She woke up this morning!
Her doctor wants to get her on the pump. He is setting everything up now.

First I would like to say that I am glad that your cousin pulled through.. This is wonderful news.. I know that you guys are all excited and happy about this..
Second, someone sent me a comment about the first thread I put here and i would like to say that if it made things worse for you due to what I said I am sorry.. I thought long and hard about whether to include the part about kidney failure or not, and I decided I thought it would be okay.. If I was wrong sorry.. I will say this, my grandmother did not come out of her coma.. And I did not want to say that, at that point..
Again, I'm glad to hear the good news.
