My college semester is over and I was taking 3 courses. I got straight A's. This is the 3rd semester in a row I have gotten straight A's. This was the hardest semester though with everyone being sick, having to look for a new house before finals and being a single mom to 4 boys. But I did it!! YAY!!!

BTW, we did move to our new house yesterday too. I got quite a chuckle this morning. We do not have much furniture or household items. Where we moved to is having a 16 home garage sale tomorrow. LOL!! I am getting up for that..believe me!!

Anyway, YAY!! Maybe soon I can relax.

Man, I think I need to come visit over there, 16 home garage sale is a lot of stuff, I'm sure you will find some good things..

And CONGRATS on your grades, I know that was tough, but it shows you are dedicated.. I am wanting to go back to school, but just not sure I can handle it right now. I hope that I can be as successful as you when I decided to go back

Oh, I LOVE garage sales! All the small towns around us always have city-wide sales every year. We hit every one of them. I always find good things too :D At one sale last weekend I found 7 tops, 4 shorts, 1 capris, 1 pair of dress pants, 1 pair of shoes, and a spring jacket - all for $22.00!! It felt like Christmas!

CONGRATS on finishing your semester! What an accomplishment for you!

Way to go!

Can you bottle some of that and sell it to my daughter who ***ONLY*** has to study and still can't get above a 3.0?

Hint: If you put it in a wine bottle she'll buy it!

Great job - being a single mom and going to school is so tough!!!! I have my thesis and two classes left and then it is 13 years of school over! But, I always say - education is the one thing they can't take from you - unless you get hit in the head really hard!

What a great feeling - and quick question - do your kids make your grades versus theirs a competition???? Or is it just mine?

My kids actually do not make grades a competition. Maybe when they are a bit older. They do love when I get A's and they are very supportive of my education. I get wished good luck, etc..

This semester my anger at DH was my motivator for getting A's. He is in school and that is one of his reasons for not wanting us back. He cannot figure out how he can fit us all in while he works and goes to school. He is also not doing so well with his classes. He had to repeat a class and this past semester he got C's. I wanted to be able to say to him "Look I have the kids, stress of finding a new house. taking of Deacon's diabetes and everyone did have a huge bout of illness in March, but I still got straight A's."

Next semester, I plan on toning it down. I need to be able to accept a B once in a while.

Lee, how do you do classes and raise your kids? Do you only take 2 classes at a time?

I always took 2 undergrad courses at a time, and now do one grad course - it is hard! Before the divorce, I did it after the kids went to bed and the dishes were done, and the house clean...

Now, they are with their Dad 1/2 time, so I schedule my classes and homework around that. It really works well. I also don't take lunch breaks - I take homework breaks - go in my car at lunch and study...hey, it's quiet! Going back to school is so incredibly hard - but without having started the process over a decade ago, I wouldn't be doing what I am doing now - which enables me to support my family! I am a BIG Advocate for continuing ed and even speak to high school students and freshman grad classes about pretty regularly...

HHHmmmm, other homework getting done tips - maybe pay the oldest a few bucks to babysit while studying, we usually sit down and do homework together, hhhmmmm...not really anything lse - but when you get that diploma - after working so hard for it - and it says your name (and the way you are going - Magna Cum Laude!) - and your kids get to watch you get that - there is NOTHING in the world that will beat that feeling! You just have so much to be proud of!
