View Full Version : The things that excite us???
OK - I am sitting at my desk squirming in my seat so excited - about an flippin address book! I can't wait to get home and use it for Nicole's log! We have been using a 1/2 size 3 ring binder that she carries in her bag everywhere - it works great - but is hard to replace when it wears out. So at the evil WallyWorld empire today, I found a baby blue (her Fav color) and Lime green leather, hardcover address book! IT is just a little smaller than the 1/2 size notebook! And it is 3 ring - and so cute!
I am just way to excited about this! So, what silly D things do you get excited about that only we would understand?

We were at a diabetes expo this weekend, and we bought a new case for my son's tester - it has an animal print on it and he was SO excited (www.diabetesdesigns.com). I wouldn't usually spend $$ on that, but how could I say "no"? He was even more excited when my husband brought home a new meter he had picked up at his own endo's office and it had PURPLE lancets in it!!! Kinda sad that is what makes my 11 year old happy, but I guess it is better than nothing!

Wally World sometimes has lancets that are purple, blue, yellow (Relion brands). (My dd refused to switch to Multi-clix.) I'm always excited when I can find them.

It thrilled my daughter when she got the pink One Touch mini-meter. We have the pink Animas 2020 on hold until our insurance will approve it (6 month wait from dx). So... she carries her pink meter in a pink case in her pink emergency kit in her pink backpack.
Now, if the glucagon could come in a pink case... :)

Yep, anything free is great. Last Friday I had our Ultra Link delivered plus I bought an Ultra Smart and an Ultra Mini (free with coupons) that same day. Looked like a Onetouch warehouse. :) Do I need all those meters? NO!!!! But they were free! It was like Christmas for me.

I get excited when I find a new flavor of Glucotabs!;) We just got watermelon the other day and he loved them. I just wish they would make them smaller. My DS keeps a roll in his pocket and it's pretty bulky for an 8 yr. old.

THis isn't a little thing, but I had to replace CJ's cell phone. Wasn't much good to carry around school, he couldn't get a signal. I splurged and got a Blackberry Curve (I know, spoild & $$) but it links up with the pc and my pearl with no problem and he can get a signal in school and text me with hi or low numbers or just let me know he's feeling crappy. We do share our calendars, pix and music files. And yes, if he wasn't D he would have gotten the cheapest replacement phone I could find. For our situation, it was well worth the money.
What really makes him happy is when I pick up the short pen needles and CVS brand alcohol prep.
Oh, yeah, I was his birthday present too. The old one died at just the right time. He was wanting video games.

I'm pretty sure it was Wally World. As much as that store irritates me, I end up in there at least once a week.

Check and see if you can order them online and have them shipped.
Since I started Weight Watchers and walking on the threadmill at the gym, I am going thru alot of them, since I am making adjustsment to my food and exercising, I am going low, so 4 tabs what I usually need to bring my sugar back up from exercisig. My insulin has went down from over 75+ units a day thru the pump, to around 55 u :D

My endos office gave me a pretty pink case for all Amandas supplies and I thought it was the greatest thing! Then today I got the Aviva skins at the endo' office, I got a free meter last week, and I got the JDF Bag of Hope when she was diagnosed, and I really got excited when I found a Medical ID that would fit such a tiny wrist! Whoo Hoo!
Only you all would understand. :)

Connor gets really excited about getting exactly 100 for blood sugars. I get excited meeting moms who have kids with diabetes (although that is sad too).

My son got so excited when his endro gave him a new Ultra mini. It was sad that he got so excited over a meter, but at the same time I was excited for him. We then ordered 2 free ones. He now has black, silver and green. Can't ever have enough meters. I got really excited when I found a metal box with Sponge Bob on it for my son to carry his syringes in. They fit just perfect. And a bonus it was a watch box, so he also got a SpongeBob watch out of the deal.
I saw watermelon tabs at Wal-Mart this weekend.
I agree they need to make a smaller container for the tabs.

This sounds wierd - but if she has a 100 - she gets a $1.00 - I have no idea why - it is something she started, and we have done it at both houses!
