Hello everyone,
My daughter wears comfort shorts and last week during a site change I noticed she had what looked like a bruise at the insertion point. After removing the site, I suspected an infection so I pressed all around it and felt hardness right where the cannula was. The diabetes nurse told us it was just a bruise and some irritation, no infection.
But I've checked every site we've changed since then and they all feel hard around where the cannula was. It's almost as if it was still in there. Did I just not notice this before and it's always happened?
The D nurse told me if there was no pain, swelling, redness, or discharge not to worry, or I could take her to her pediatrician just to have him check it out (What does he know of infusion sites!), since our next endo appointment is not until June.
What do you think? Is it normal? The original site is almost back to normal now.
