shew how do you guys do this all the time ...i thought i was tired before but since my daughter went on her pump a week ago i have never felt more tired with all the extra checks and getting up 2 times in the middle of the night ...there seems to be so much more to do now ...i know this will be better for her but it is so much to do and its just all so overwhelming sometimes i just want to crawl in a hole ...i guess it will settle down some but right now it is constantly changing every day some days several times a day it feels like and its always like well was that the right thing to do or not ...i read about some of you guys on here and it just seems so easy and a way of life and i just wonder when we will get to that point if ever ...my dd needs such small doses and dosent always follow all the usual ruels of what a normal d would do when something happens so it seems like a constant guessing game with her of what will happen next ...ahhh im so tired i wish we could just have a vacation but that isnt going to happen ...:(

Pump start is especially difficult. We didn't have everything set correctly on the pump until about 3 weeks after pump start. Also, you're still in the first year and you are probably experiencing even more frequent changes than the parents of kids who are well past the "honeymoon" stage.

Hang in there!

We are not on the pump but the things you have said have crossed my mind.. Whenever I think about the pump they just seem so confusing and so much other stuff to do.. I'm not sure that i would be able to do it, but so many people here talk about them and it seems like it is sooo easy for them..

I do hope that you start to feel better about this issue though! Just like the shots took time to get use to and figure things out, I'm sure this is the same way.. Good Luck!!

i had to just get into the habit of getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night, sometimes chopped into 2 hour intervals. I stay and watch TV and mostly come here....lol. Kats health has been much better since then, A1c went down from 10.0 to 9.1 and I'm sure the next one will be even better. Nocturnal hypoglucemia sucks.

Congrats on getting the A1C down - I wonder if some of that can be blamed on the early start of the vistor for her???

things will settle down. I PROMISE!!! The first year is undoubtedly the hardest, and then throw in a pump start and it's no wonder you feel overwhelmed.

Just remember, rome wasn't built in a day :)

I was overwhelmed the first few months after pump start, but I can tell you after over 2 years of pumping, I wouldn't do it any other way. It is worth the effort in the long run.

Hang in there!

You got the pump one week ago today? It sounds tough in the beginning like everyone warned it would be, but I think the long term affects for our children and ourselves will be worthwhile. Hang in there :)

It does get better - however, I DO get a LOT less sleep becuase of pumping. Lantus - I could sleep knowing for sure! Now, I stay up till 11:45ish to check (I count that midnight) and then, most days - at 3am, unless things are going steady (It hasn't been going steady for 2 months now )

Alot of people say it is like starting all over again - and I can understand that. But focus on the big things now, and worry about the other things later - like combo bolus and temp basal, etc - you have plenty of time to learn those!
