Today was crazy. Matia came to the office at school crying and upset b/c she couldn't keep up and was frustrated with her work b/c the teacher makes them redo stuff if the handwriting (new to cursive) is not good enough, instead of just fixing those parts. Etc... Anyway she was writing an answer to a question and just didn't have room to write the answer and the teacher was making her do it over. That is another story but...

Our awesome secretary (no nurse b/c it is a private small school but she is GREAT!) said well maybe she is low. It has about 2 hrs post meal. Checked and she was 88. She figured she was going low and called me (teaching PE) to come in (5 minutes or so). She told me Matia was upset and thought low was coming, should we do carbs or? So I said let's check and see again. She was "sleeping" on the office floor. In that 10-15 minutes she dropped to 58. I immediately gave her Gatoraid, more than suggested and waited to recheck her. In about 10-15 minutes, I rechecked her now as she lie her head in my lap complaining she didn't feel good but not without her normal since of humor. Then saw 31!!!!!!! I about flipped. Told them to get me her kit, with gel and tabs and "the red box". Matia said "not the red box" I explained it was just in case! She finally did come up to 119, then had food all untreated b/c I was worried and confused and then by 4:30p doing homework she was being TERRIBLE again and when she checked she was HI. That I get. I know why but the 31?!

She was 118 before lunch. Had applesauce, jell-o, egg, PB and celery (didn't like the Mac and cheese) and we predosed her 10 minutes before lunch 20 then after she ate, 30 minutes later another 8. I double checked that in her pump history but I have no idea what may have happened!? Any insight? Yesterday, similar pre-lunch number but no crashing. WTH!!!

Tiring and crazy day!

Amanda had a great breakfast yesterday morning..gave her insulin..her BG was good, Her dad took her outside in the yard, she went on the swing...All of a sudden about an hour later she was crying, having a hissy fit..cant tell if its temper tantrum or low BG, I test her she was at 39...Juice, crackers string cheese, she went back up to 136. It wasnt hot, she wasnt running around..so who knows It happens, I dont know why..not too much insulin, I covered her breakfast...This is what I really hate about diabetes, the sudden lows...that happen and cant be explained.. It does not happen too often but it has happened for sure..And not too mention how awful they feel physically :(

oh wow that's scary.

for what it's worth, she didn't have many carbs for lunch - just really the applesauce, and I know with Ian I have to only give him half the carbs for applesauce because it just processes so quickly in him that no matter what I do, he goes low.
