We have United Healthcare and i was wondering how was your experience in getting a pump covered,? Omnipod or others pumps, Was it a struggle or did things work out smoothly for you?

United gave us no trouble in getting the Minimed pump for my daughter. They even covered the cgms which surprised me!

Good luck!

I have United Health Care and we didn't have a problem getting an insulin pump at all. They don't cover the entire thing our out of pocket expense was about $900.00 for the Animas 2020. We called them before hand asking what they cover and they were awsome.

we have used the minimed and the omnipod both without a problem from United Health Care. (covered 100% pump and infusion sets, when we changed to the pod also covered 100% everything).

I have United and they would cover Minimed and Animas in network at 80/20 but Omnipod was out of network and they did not cover a big chunk of the pods (like $1200.00 of the $1380.00 ) they consider the pods like infusion sets. I made the mistake of ordering Omnipod with only knowing out of network coverage of 60/40 but they actually did not even cover that much so be sure you get the actual amount they will pay before you order. I am currently in my second level appeal with my company who is self insured. Good Luck. Ask alot of questions and get the amount covered in writing and a amount they guarantee to pay.

it honostly depends on your policy... we have united health care, and we pay 20% after we meet the deductable, that is another thing you can pick and choose.

for us, no hassles getting the pump, or the CGM (minimed) and we paid 10% fpr the pump and we will be paying more for the CGM  becouse of how minimed filed our forms... the pump in 2007, the CGM in 2008... I have words to say about that which are not fit for human ears if you get my drift... expecially since both were put in via my dr office at the same time.

as of yet, we havent been billed for our last shipment, which would be our first shipment of sets. So I cant tell you what that will cost every three months. We recieved a three month shipment of supplies when we recieved the pump.
