I feel so bad for this kid!!! She is home from school again today from another stomach ache, this morning she woke up crying:( She had an endo appointment on Wed, I told them about the problem, so they had us go get some blood work done. She has an appointment with a pediatric gastroenterologist on the 12th they want to wait till all her test come in..but from now till then I dont know what to do for this poor girl. Right now I am trying to keep her away from dairy since my hubby and 2 of my dd are lactose intolerance...But in the back of my mind I wonder if she could have Celiac? So do I keep her away from dairy or gluten...or both..whats there left to eat...she is getting to the point she doesnt want to eat anything since she keeps ending up with a stomach ache but we all know that she HAS to eat...this morning she was trying to convince me to let her have carrots for breakfast

I'm not sure about dairy, but if they are going to do a Celiac screen, you need to keep her on wheat products as normal. Removing gluten from the diet will skew test results.

Could it be that she is constipated? My non-d daughter was having this problem. Even though she was having bowel movements, they weren't normal and she was "stopped up" higher up in the intestine. She had terrible stomach aches.

As for eating, maybe try some applesauce, it's pretty mild on the stomach.

Hope she feels better soon. Poor kid.

If you suspect it may be celiac, do not keep her away from gluten. If they test her for it, and she has been eating GF then it will mess up the results of the test.

I am sorry she has to deal with it for 2 more weeks before you can get some answers.

have you tried giving her tums? or other OTC belly stuff?

the Celiac test was done on Wed right after a McDonalds lunch ...she had both dairy and gluten...chocolate milk with chicken nuggets

If that bllodwork comes back high for celiac, they will want to do an endoscopy to diagnosis, so that is why she still needs to eat gluten.

Maybe try a Pepcid AC - I find with my kids, those just work better - it kills all of the acid. Hopefully her tummy will feel better and her results will be negative!

My 4 yr old was having this problem. Ped said this week that she believes she is becoming lactose intolerant. I had increased cheese in diet since diag 4 weeks ago in order to get the protein in. Since we stopped all dairy she no longer complains (so far, only 3 days). I am lactose intolerant and my 10 yr old was as well. Worth a try. I haven't heard much about Celiac, but now I am wondering about that. She just had her first blood screens this week, we go in 2 wks for results.

I have the same thing with my daughter - she's 7. She's been d/x 6 months, and was re-tested for Celiacs last month - negative. We went to a Ped GI specialist, who said she was constipated, and has her on a light laxative. It's helped for 2 weeks, and now she's back with the stomach aches, coming home from from school in pain

Her cheeks get flushed when she gets them. She says she feels sick, but she never throws up.

I'm at my wits end! I feel so bad for her.
