Which meter and lancing device does everyone like the most? We are trying to find one for Nick that will cause less pain when he has to prick his fingers and one that requires less blood.

I think 99% of the forum will vote for the accu-check multi-clix as a lancing device. As far as meters, everyone has their favorites. I like the Accu-Check Aviva for it's accuracy.

We prefer the Accu-check Aviva meter and the Accu-check Multi-clix tester.

We've only used the Precision Xtra meter (tests ketones also) and lancing devise that came with it. Jr likes it.

I would definitely recommend the Precision Xtra b/c it can test both the blood glucose and blood ketones. For most people, the compliance of checking ketones when ill or with high BGs is so much greater if it can be done with another fingerstick vs urine checks. Abbott labs will likely send you a free meter if your insurance will cover the strips. My son prefers the lancet device that came w/ this meter, doesn't really matter that much.

We use the Freestyle Lite meter and the Mulitclix lancing device. We have used about all of them at some point or another, but these are what my son has chosen to use-at least for now!

We use the multi-clix lancet device, and the freestyle lite meter.. in a few weeks we'll try out the new one touch ultralink that will talk to Kaylee's pump.. we like the one touch products but use freestyle right now because it uses less blood..

Aaron likes the Freestyle mini because it's really small (he can fit the whole kit in his front pocket -- important for a teen boy) and takes a teeny dab of blood. He likes his old One Touch lancing device better though and uses it with the Freestyle kit.

Other things -- is he doing the sides of his fingertips, rather than the "tip" of the tip (if that makes sense)? Right on the end is much more sensitive and also tends to stay sore because its always hitting something. And experiment with different lancets -- Aaron finds the One Touch "ultrasoft" (talk about a euphemism) better than some other samples we've tried. They work in most meters.

Accu-check multiclix and the accu-check avia meter. :DFor over 2 yrs. I stuck with the onetouch meters and then I got the free accu-check and love it. I even have to pay more per month for the strips (due to insurance:mad:) BUT we just love the meter and lancet device.

We use the Accu-Chek Aviva meter and the MultiClix. It's what we were given at the hospital, and they've worked really well for us.

I have tried every meter out there I think. My favorite things about the Freestyle Flash/and Lite.....you can add blood for up to one minute, and the lighted testing area. I have found we just wasted so many strips if you can't add blood and test a whole lot at night so the light is extremely helpful. I remember an Accucheck rep gave us an Aviva kit for children that had a little squeeze flashlight that was a good effort but just created an extra step.

I will say my cuddos to Accucheck as well on the mulitclix. I called them the other day to get a new blue cap since ours had cracked and they sent me a whole new lancing device. Great customer service.

This is what Ryan likes best.

This is what he uses too...but he just got a One touch Ultra which is longer and slimmer and he wants to try that now. BUT we just got his scrip changed for the Lite so I don't want to change it until all the refills are going.

There is a $20 off a one touch meter in the paper today, so I may pick up another one. We got his current one from the endo.

We used the One Touch for almost 2 years but have just switched to Freestyle Lite. The difference in the amount of blood needed between the two meters was amazing to us. My daughter used the Multi-Clix lancing device and many times we had to poke her finger twice to get enough blood to fill the One Touch.

My husband and son both use the Accu-Chek Aviva and the Multi-Clix lancet. We are very happy with that meter and lancing device.

multi clix lancet is good, but the renew lancet is even better. We tried it and like it a lot.
But, it is not compact, does not fit well in the kit.
We use one touch for the meter.

We are still "test driving" meters, but Joshua (who is 7) uses the Renew Advanced Lancing System. We tried out many of the lancing devices, including the MultiClix, but this is the one he likes the best. He does not feel it at all, and it does not make that horrible, loud "click" when it pricks you. Although we have the MultiClix, I think we are one of the few users that is not crazy about it.

We're another vote for the multi-clix and the aviva meter. I think that meter requires a little bit less blood than the one touch which we were given in the hospital.

Good luck!
