I'm getting increasingly more frustrated by the difficulty of getting Dean in to see his endocrinologist. By his next appointment in June he won't have been seen since December. It's not a huge deal, but now they wanted to change his appointment for June because the endo is not available. Because of Dean's summer internship, he only has this one week.

He'll have to see the nurse practioner which will work I guess, but he's going on the CGM. Not exactly sure how that fits in.

Just venting. There's not a perfect solution here. He doesn't have a car at Ohio State so we don't necessarily want to switch the endo relationship to that city. I do most of the calling - the perscription issues, etc... and I do know that needs to shift with regard to responsibility soon. And something like the CGM appointment we want to be a part of that.

The college years and a busy endo who changes her days in the office can just be tricky and very frustrating.

I think college students/young adults should see the endo even more frequently to keep them on track and encouraged to continue striving towards target bgs. I would phone the endo directly and see if your son can be squeezed in for an appointment.

Problem is his schedule too - classes Monday through Friday no days off until after finals in June. I guess because of that scenario it makes sense to have an endo at Ohio State, but transportation is a tiny issue and we like to still go to the appointments. We'll have to work this out this summer and possibly rethink who he is going to currently. This current endo relationship just doesn't seem to be working out.

I would certainly want him seeing the endo instead of the NP since he has not had an appointment in some time. I hope that you are able to work something out.

At this point, it sounds like Alex is going to go to a college just an hour away so I think we'll get an endo here and work on getting him appts so he doesn't have to miss many classes, etc. But if he goes out of state, we'll definitely get him one in that area.

How far away is OSU from you? Sounds like it might work better for him to go near school.

Good luck with the cgm. We're getting a trial one on Monday. But our current endo is very pesimistic about getting cgms for real. That will be one of my first question to the prospective new endos.

We're about one hour and 45 minutes from the campus.
I do have the CGM appt set up now the beginning of the week he has free between finals and the internship. Timing is everything. :)
