Yes. I take my DS there. We have been admitted twice now. Once at diagnosis and once about a month after. Our first visit very nice. comforting and informative. Our 2nd visit not so much and I had alot to say about certain things. However, in spite of it all I will go back to Children's cuz over all they are really a great bunch of people. I wrote a detailed complaint about our 2nd visit. If you are interested I will find it and email it to you when I get home from work.

Ok, We live in Louisiana close to shreveport area and tring to find a pedi endo is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. There is only one here and that is it. They are just to busy. They have to reschedule your app. all the time.
All they have here is adult endo's which will not see children.

There are several at Children's of course and they really are nice to deal with. I fax my DSs log every Monday and a few hours later they call me and discuss his #s and dosing changes. I put sticky notes on the log sometimes, like today, telling them if he has a cold and if we have pediatrician appointments and they talk to me about that too. I always get a sense of comfort and east with them. The endo's are also just as nice. TrialNet is around the corner from Children's as well and so is Parkland. www.childrens.com
Our endo is Dr. Adhikari. There are several people on the diabetes education and medical staff who have Type 1 also.

My apologies. I cant find my notes and my DS is having a low so Im monitoring him, DH is here helping. DS is 44 right now. ugh.
Anyway. In a nut shell. I dont believe you will be disappointed with Children's in Dallas. They answer and return calls promptly. They notify the ER that you are coming when you need to come. THey are compassionate and patient when talking to them whether in person or over the phone.
The only problem I had was our last inpatient visit and it took them 4 tries for the 1st IV and the nurse decided to pull it out before he was rehydrated. Then it took another 10 sticks to get another IV. Talk about torture. I think it was a learning experience for their IV techs mostly. My learning experience in this is to always have an ER or EMT team do it. They have to do it on the fly and can usually get an IV in with maybe 2 tries.

We use Childrens in Dallas.
We have had a few problems but I think it was more a mis communication then anything else.
Everyone there is so helpful and they really care about the children. As someone else said many of there are many diabetics on staff .
I dont think you would regret the switch. I do know they see several kids from other states and various distances from Dallas. One day our Endo Dr. Tannin was waiting for a family who was in a traffic jam that make a 5 hour drive to the office. I think that is awesome that they would wait like that because you dont see that much anymore.

We started out using Children's in Dallas.. We were diagnosed there and spent a week in the hospital.. We were not pleased there at all...We did have some nice nurses, but that was about it.. We felt like we had no say in anything and were treated like we didnt know anything.. We switched to another Dr , 2 days after being out of the hospital.. And we LOVE where we are now..

Our first in-hospital stay at Childrens was pretty much dictated but D was so new to us and we were willing to do anything and everything neccessary to help our DS. However, our 2nd in-hospital stay was completely opposite. We were admitted exactly a month from being released the first time so we were still full of questions and unsure about D management. They kept asking us our opinion, what we wantd to do and how to handle things. I didnt know! I was stil unsure and worried about making a wrong decision. At the time I felt like, they are the pros and they should be helping me make a decision.
Today I think I am over that and I put my foot down and decide more often as I am feeling more confident about how my DS handles his D
