I just talked to the Director of the D summer camp, its suppose to be for 6 and up, but she'll let Kaylee do it at 5.5 years!! Woo Hoo, its a day camp, which I think will help me in the transition of having K all day to letting someone else do some of her care.. its from 8:30am-4pm, all supplies included and only $179 for the week (is that a decent price? everything else I've seen is so much more!)

I'm so excited, I just hope I can get the registration form, and the money to them before it fills up!

Yay, that's great!
Our local D camp has a minimum age of 5.5, which Tessa misses by 1 month. Our CDE put a call into the director for me, so I'm hoping Tessa will be able to attend.
Ours is 2 weeks from 9am-4pm and has a cost of $395.
She's a kid that wants to go somewhere every single day, so I think she'll love it, and also think it will be a good prep for her being in Kgarten in the fall.
I'm hoping Marisa sends her Mia too, and then they can see each other at camp.
Anyone else in Broward County, FL that will be at the camp?

Wow! That's great!!

What camp are you sending her too? I didn't know there was a day camp around here...

Brian is going to the Joslin camp in MA, but it's a sleep away camp for one week. Andrew is not at all ready for that, but I"d love to get him into a day camp....

BTW -- we're forking over $1200 for Brian's camp, so $179 sounds like a great price to me

That is great! My DD is so looking forward to her first year at camp - Camp Carefree up your way - it is $850 for two weeks - we looked into Joslin, but I decided I couldn't afford it! My oldest loves going to camp, and I am happy that Coco gets to go this year also - but 2 weeks- ouch!

Camp Carefree is super close (40 minutes from my house), but Brian wasn't sure about the two week thing. Maybe next year if things go well this year. This summer will be the first time he's slept away from home with the one exception of a weekend with Grandma prior to DX.

Thats great! Kylee is going to D camp in August for a week and she is WAY excited about it. Its a sleep over camp and we are paying $350, which includes all supplies. It was originally $400, but they offer a discount if you pay before a certain date, which we did. Its a smaller camp, about 60 kids if I remember right, and her endo takes the week off and attends the camp too.
Im excited for her to go so that she can meet other kids with diabetes. There are three other kids in our town that have it, but they are all in high school and at least 6 years older than Kylee.

Im jealous. I always wanted to go to a sleepaway camp when I was a kid.
