We'll be at the MOA this weekend.
Anyone know if the restaurants have nutritional info (Rainforest Cafe)?
I'm a little nervous about her bgs since she shot over 300 from a trip to the local children's museum. Do you just check bg more frequently on trips and correct more often? Do your kids sometimes drop on their own or do you always correct highs?
Sorry, I really want this to be a fun trip and be as prepared as I can be.

First of all, I hope you enjoy yourself! I am from MN :D
Every child is different, but it is usually that they will spike with excitement, but then drop with running around, exercise etc. We were away from home at a hotel a couple weeks ago too. I just made sure I had a lot of carb snacks with me and checked my SD every 2 hours. Check more if it makes you more comfortable. My SD doesn't spike high much, she tends to be on the lower end.
I don't go to the MOA that often even though I am about 50 miles away from it. I am not real familiar with the restaurants there. Here is the website of different places (towards the bottom). I would think if you either called ahead of time there or looked it up on the Calorie King you might find nutrition information.

The trouble with eating out is the restaurant food has loads of fat. I almost always count the carbohydrates and then add more insulin to make it come out right. Sometimes I do an extended bolus.
I always expect the sugars to be out of wack after eating at a restaurant -- that just goes with the territory. I simply treat the highs when they occur.

Have fun at the MOA!! Even though we live fairly close, we don't go that often. But when we do, the kids have fun. Yep, eating out is a challenge. Having the Calorie King book is a great resource as well as checking on-line. But be prepared for higher numbers--yes the fat can do it. But given that the Mall is so big and there are many things to do, walking about and being physically active is pretty easy. Could help with the higher numbers due to the food and being sedentary on the drive to the MOA.
Not meaning to highjack this post, but who is going to the JDRF Day at the Twins on Sat? If you walked, you should've gotten the invite. We're going, then to the MOA. Have a great time, and maybe we'll see some of you at the Dome.

I have not received any info about that. I can find nothing about it on the JDRF site or the Twins site. I can't even find anything with a Google search. Could you possibly fill me in Tim?
I'm afraid they might not have gotten ahold of all of the teams this year, but there is a Twins Day every season for the walk teams. Our notice came from the MN JDRF Chapter office. You could reserve tickets to the game this Saturday afternoon - I believe the RSVP deadline passed some time ago. There is also a walk team reception/cookout prior to the game on the outdoor plaza.
