We just got the Omnipod demo pak that was talked about a week or so ago--I was really excited to finally see the pod!

DD is still not sure she wants to pump, but it's great to have the demo to play around with.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Does the demo have the thingy that goes into the skin or is it just to see what it feels like to wear one?

It's just a dummy pod with no insertion.

On youtube, if you type "omnipod" in the search box, there are video demonstrations as well.

This is certainly a very cool piece of technology!

My hubby wants to know if it uses bluetooth and if you can put their program on your own PDA. Does anyone know about this?

It's not Bluetooth, just a plain old line-of-sign infrared port like your TV remote. I'm positive their software runs on a custom chip and OS, which would be useless on another PDA.

I think you can fill up the demo too if you want to see how it feels "loaded", but the demo will not insert.

We got our demo yesterday too.

Jess was really excited to "play" with it. We put it on her, and about 10 mins later she wanted it off.

We love the concept of it, but she is so used to her smaller site that she said the pod was uncomfortable. Granted, she only gave it 10 mins. If she used it daily she would get used to it, but since insurance wont pay for it for 3 more years, we didnt see any reason to leave it on.

I was interested in seeing how big the pod itself was. I think it was bigger then I expected it to be. Hopefully there will be a smaller 2nd generation available in a few years.

We recieved ours a few weeks ago and we were excited as well!! It's awesome isn't it! We had the rep come to our house last week and do a demonstration. My husband wore it for 3 days and said he forgot he had it on. We are hoping to start pump classes this summer and start the pod:D

My DS said the same thing with the "practice pod". Now that he has the real deal, he says he forgets he even has it on. He never even talks about it, just goes about his normal rountine. But we cannot wait for this saline trial period to be over. We are sooo ready for insulin.

Liv felt similarly that the pod's size was a negative for her and she thought that she'd really want the pod. She kept the pod on for almost 3 days. The pod is quite large when it's compared to an infusion set.

I think Liv would have adapted to the pod if we would have just went ahead and bought it. But, she has been pumping for 18 months and she had the comparison of large pod or small infusion set. Since, she was used to tubing, that didn't factor in as a huge negative.

I still think the pod is great. I like that Liv has options. I think a smaller pod and smaller PDM would be fabulous! We're looking forward to the next generations as well.
