What is the insurance company?

So sorry I left this out in my excitement! We are with United Healthcare PPO, Choice Plus plan, through my husbands work.

I was just told at a diabetes education day that United Healthcare and sometimes Cigna will cover the CGMS here in NC.

When will you receive it? I'll finally meet you and see it for myself :-). BTW, we have the same health plan...now if your daughter can convince my son to use it - I'm buying the coffee at STarbucks!:D

How did you get them to cover the unit and supplies? Did they question the age limitations on the navigator? Give me some information.

I really didn't do anything:o! My endo submitted all the necessary paperwork (which I printed off the Abbott webpage and faxed to them), along with a medical necessity letter from my endo. Abbott called me last night stating that everything is covered at 90% after the $250 deductible, including the unit, sensor and ongoing DME supplies (if ordered in-network). I did ask if UHC questioned Mia's age ( 6 1/2) and they said no. I was as surprised as everyone else is!!! Here is a summary:

$250 deductible
$1000 out of pocket max per year
No benefit cap
No lifetime max
90% coverage if in-network (less if out-of-network) on all parts of the Navigator
Letter of medical necessity and medical notes are required

Abbott said that I will get this summary in writing as confirmation in the mail. A trainer/Abbott rep will contact me "soon" to set up a training.
They also said that a smaller sensor is in the works (I asked).

It just sounds too good to be true...
