Thanks Frizzyrazzy for lending your Diabetes Awareness Day letter. I added some of my DD info to it and sent it to friends and family. A dear friend forwarded it to 25 of her work associates with an intro that we were friends and to please pray for DD and all the other families affected by D, or at least to please read the letter to become informed. It brought tears to my eyes. When I got home, I received the following email from someone I do not know:

"Maureen,
I hope you don't mind that I am emailing you. I got your email forwarded to me from Tara Levesque who received it from Kim Shank. I was very touched because I am 30 years old and I have had Type 1 diabetes since I was 4, so my mom did the same things for me that you now do for your daughter.

I laughed out loud at your comment about cinnamon not curing diabetes because I actually had someone tell me that that would regulate my blood sugars once!

I also wanted to let you know that I am married, have a healthy 2 year old daughter (that I gave birth to naturally! (well, with an epidoral)), I had a great pregnancy and no issues getting pregnant at all, and I'm on an insulin pump which I was very scared to do after years of injections but now I love it.

Anyway, the point of me telling you all that is just to reaffirm that you can have a wonderful and normal life with type 1 diabetes especially if you have parents that set you on the right course to take care of yourself. I don't know anything different than having to test and take insulin and watch what I eat but I think its made me a more responsible healthy person, so I guess that is my silver lining!

I also had no idea that it was Diabetes Alert Day!

Take care!
Stephanie Tomko"

How sweet is that? Someone I know forwarded it to someone they know who sent it to others they know! Then for a total stranger to take the time to share her encouraging story.

Wow frizzyrazzy - I bet you had no idea your words would be read by so many people. I'm sorry I didn't give you the credit in my email!
Maureen
