Did anyone see this? I just happened to flip on the news really quick and caught the tail-end of a report. It states that intestinal surgery that removes the first 1' of the large intestine could be the cure for D...! The doctor(sorry I didn't catch his name) said that the procedure could even be done by putting a tube down the patient's throat. I wish I had caught the full segment. It helps by normalizing blood sugar without meds. Anyway, it was aired on Fox News with Shepherd Smith. Maybe someone can find this and see if there's any weight to this or not.

Sounds to me like it would be for type 2 diabetes. If it works at all. Makes no sense at all for type 1

Yeah, that'd be type 2, and probably for weight loss. Maybe for metabolic disorder.
Personally, Id like to keep all of my intestines intact... seems to reason that if it was put there, it should be there, unless it explodes with infection.

Hm. weird.

it seems like every new cure is for type 2's.

It's so frustrating. Although maybe it's gonna be sooner than we hope...? :)

Keep your fingers crossed...Denise Faustman has launched Phase I on her cilinical trials with humans. In about a year and a half we will pretty much know if her cure for diabetic mice works on humans too :)

It is for type 2 and also they have only done the surgery one time. To me not enough of a study if you ask me.

Type 2's still make insulin, their body just doesn't know how to use it efficiently. That's the problem. It's easier to get the body to use insulin it already produces than to get cells to create new insulin on their own.

I wrote the author of an article about this (not sure if its the same one, I didn't check the link..), and very politely asked her to change her mistake, that i didn't know if it was was type-o or she just had the facts wrong.. she wrote back and told me that they have taken all mention of type 1 out of the article and that she was very sorry..

I was reading the article, it says that BCG (this simple antibiotic) has been used for decades for treatment of TB and a couple of other things. I find it interesting that my mom has been misdiagnosed with TB twice in her life, and this T1 possible cure drug is for treating TB. Imagine if my mom had been given this drug 30 yrs ago when she was first dx'ed as having TB! I wont tell her this. She would just get upset at the possibility that she may have been cured before going blind.
