:(:(Here it is almost a year since diagnosis...have a good routine, learning a lot, and just when you think you are doing a good job...your little one wakes up for some reason this morning with HBG and high ketones....Dont know why?
Called endo...extra insulin and lots of water which I am doing and her BG is finally good but those darn ketones!!!! I know it takes a while to clear them, but I cant help but wonder...what did I do wrong??? Yes I cried today...
and I am hating diabetes today. All I can think of is almost a year ago she was in DKA in Pediatric ICU and diagnosed with type 1...so this is a bad reminder!! She did eat really well today though which I was glad because the extra insulin...dont want her to go low...did I mention I hate diabetes a lot today? Thanks for listening..

Sorry you are having a rotten day, she may be getting sick or could be sick and you just didn't know it.. I hope that you get to feeling better and know that you are doing what you can for your child. You didn't do anything wrong.. Keep getting her to drink and they will eventually pass..

So sorry this is happening...it does bring back those awful memories. I understand. We had a high ketones episode a few weeks back, and it was so stressful and scary, and I was also asking myself what happened, where did I fail???

But it's not us who have done something wrong...we do the best we can, but the d beast sometimes has the upper hand, and we can't do anything about it, but wait for things to settle down. Which is what I'm wishing for you...

And don't know if you share my opinion, but DIABETES SUCKS!!!!;)

Take care!

Hang in there - I am only a month away from our DKA episode and the trip to the PICU with our diagnosis, so I can empathize with your fear of reliving high ketones and the anxiety it must be causing. Keep us posted with your progress, as I'm sure it's all going to be well and we'll all breathe a sigh of whew with you. Colleen
