and it went well. A1c is 7, yahoo:D They said that his numbers are excellent.

We started paperwork on the pump and he said that the insurance had to approve it but he is going to have to write it in a way that it will get approved since his numbers ARE so good. I think that stinks and the pump should be approved for everyone that wants one. Oh well that is just me.

Then he asked if I worked and I said yes part time. He said that I would be a good diabetes nurse and if I ever went into nursing he would hire me. I thought that was a great compliment coming from an endo.

So he went along with the doses that I have already. Our CDE said that at first she was worried about us because we hadn't called at all in the last 4 months but then after she called she just realized that I know what I am doing.

So that is it for now, just waiting for the ok for the pump now. I am going to keep my fingers crossed. How long does it usually take for them to approve or deny the pump?

Thanks everyone for all of your help, suggestions and knowledge because I know if it weren't for all of you our a1c wouldn't be as good.:D

Congrats on a great #!!! I wouldn't worry too much about the insurance, our endo. said B's # were great - but we wanted to get better #'s so we wanted the pump. She did wonderfully wording the paperwork so the insurance had to cover it.... Good luck! :)

Great A1C !!!!

I also think the pump should be given to anyone who wants it and not to those only without good numbers. I can't help you in how long it takes because we don't have our yet. Next endo appt i think we were going to start talking about it. And that's the end of this month :)

Good luck !

Great A1c! That is great.

Have you picked a pump yet? Do you have CDE that can show you the different pumps? That way once you get approved you are ready to go. As far as how long it takes, I bugged them once I knew the letter of medical necessity had been submitted...but it took several weeks I think. I think we had already chosen the pump and gone through the process with the company so when we were approved we got shipped! :D

Congratulations !! I think how long depends on your insurance. Ours was very quick. Endo appt was on Tues., they filled out the paperwork for Animas (we were already decided) Animas called Friday to tell us they were all set to send us the pump as soon as we faxed the Insurance release form to them. We did that the following Mon. and they called Mon. night to say that it would be here that Friday. And it was. :) So total 1 1/2 wks. from start to finish.

Yeah we read all the pamphlets from each company and narrowed it down to 2. Then Christian made his final decision after the 2 reps came out.

So now we just have to wait, which I am not very good at:D:p
