almost did it

i cant believe it, i almost gave my daughter shannon 20 units of novolog this morning. i am soooooooooooo glad that i caught it. i think i need a vacation. we were in a discussion this morning and was measureing out her does and i put 20 units of it. thinking i was measureing it for her lantus. when she was injecting it. all of a sudden i screamed and told her to stop. at that time i did not know why. but i checked the amount and she had already put in 5 units in. thank goodness i caught her. she was to only get 1 unit for breakfast. so she had to take some goodies before school. that was a close one. i have to be more alert of what i am doing.

ayiyiyiyi! I think we've all done that at one point or another. It is scary!

When we were on MDI I had to try to make it a point to keep the lantus and the novolog in separate palce and then I got in the habit of looking at the bottle, reading it, saying it outloud before I filled the syringe. I know it sounds overkill but that's what I had to do because I was always trying to remember "OMG what did I just do?"

I guess we've all done these mistakes!

although at times its not funny nor at the time when it happen we are screaming and holding our heads saying *OMG* ! But in the end , we can shake our heads and say yep, Ive done that, been there!
