This is a link to the last thread regarding sharps disposal. One of the members posted a great link that lists out the specific regulations for sharps disposal for each state. Hope that helps!

The link to the other post has what I do and that is use a milk jug with a whole in the top, we use a marker and write sharps all over it then when we dipose of it we tape it with duct tape and through in trash.

It doesn't show anything for Texas. Guess we can do what we want.. lol... Acutally we do the whole milk jug or coffee can and tape thing as well..

Hi,
I just bought 2 sharps containers the other day at Wal-mart for $3.00 each. I've also used a plastic coffee container my mom gave me and cut a small hole in the lid, then wrote on the ouside "Bio-Hazard" I plan on taping it closed and tossing it. I've seen where you can fill the container with plaster of paris before tossing.
I better do alittle research before "Just tossing it." I think. :D

Hi all, I would suggest also calling your trash company and ask what their policy is. Ours allows sharps disposal, we just do what others stated, wrap the container well with duct tape and label it "used sharps."
HTH.

Wouldn't your pharmacy/drug store or hospital be able to help out?
Here in Lux (and I think I posted this on the original thread), we get a sharps container from the pharmacy (free of charge), and when full, return to the pharmacy and they take care of disposing of the sharps.

we heat with wood.. so all of our sharps go into the fireplace.. during the summer, they just kind of build up in there..

When we were on MDI and burning through needles, we used laundry detergent bottles. Now we just pick up the $2.99 ones at Target or Walmart because they are smaller.
Our hospital has a quarterly sharps drop day, you just pop in and toss them in this huge recycling bin. Only problem is that I forget the day and then they add up:D

Now that we are on the pump our biggest problem is the tubing we just dispose of it in those big coffee containers w/ tape around the lid when full. :o
