This happened at about 6 pm. My husband just came in from work, and we both were playing referee between Katerina and her brother Austin (age almost 9). Kat was in tears over some thing very minor, we told her to tell us what happened, and she started off by saying "Katerina" -- she put herself in the third person. I was like, "let me check your BS please." 20!!! I think my head spun around. I bolted to the kitchen to get a sweet thing for her to drink, my 12 yr old runs and grabs the glucagon kit. I do the fastest mix ever of about 1/4 cup of sugar and 3-4 ounces of milk in a glass, nice goopy stuff, run back in the living room and Kat still is conscious although how I dont know because when she was 3 and seized that one time, she was 19. She gulps down the sugar milk, so the glucagon got saved for another day. Right after the sugar milk, she ate half a large homemade biscuit with jelly and peanut butter, and washed that down with plain milk. In 5 minutes she was 32. 5 minutes later 63, and 5 minutes after that 73. It was just weird, came out of nowhere. We figured it was either the sibling fight (over jello) or a "pancreas spit." Any clues?

When I was under 20 before, I was conscious enough to get a juice. But It could have been stress from fighting with her sibling, and the adrenaline was rushing, and then a crash in her BG after the adrenaline/other hormones wore off. Or if she did any physical activity, it could've been "delayed hypoglycemia". Sometimes this stuff is all so random, theres really no explanation. And random is pretty much diabetes in a nutshell.

lol. i just scream out loud when I'm sick of having this. Its very therapeutic to just let go and scream. Unless the neighbors wonder whats going on in the house. "Is that kid screaming again?"lol.:p
I am so glad that she was able to drink and get back up!!! Could it have been a bad carb count from earlier - to much insulin?

How scary! I am glad she stayed conscious and was able to drink. I was told that just because a person was conscious during a 20-30 mg/dl one time does not mean that they will be every time. It depends on how much of that very little available glucose in being used in the brain.

I'm so glad she is ok. Good job catching it mom!!!! Another few minutes you could have been using the glucagon. Boy that sixth sense comes in handy!!!!!!
