As a parent of a child with diabetes (the most wonderful daughter a Dad could ever hope for!), I have some idea of how hard dealing with the daily grind of diabetes can be.
Speaking for many other parents, I know that we want to let you know how much we admire and respect how you manage to live with diabetes day in and day out..
And as a parent I'd like to thank all of you children who have diabetes:
- for your strength and courage in dealing with a pain-in-the-butt illness;
- for not letting the diabetes get you down too much, and for making the most of your lives;
- for putting up with our obsessive need as parents to manage your diabetes to the best of our ability (even if it seems like we're going WAY overboard at times);
- for letting us parents know (hopefully in a friendly way) when our focus is too much on the diabetes, and not enough on the rest of your life;
- for being able to share with us your sadness and fears, and likewise for understanding our concern for you;
- for joining us in learning about how to manage your diabetes as well as possible, and learning what the diabetes has to teach us;
- for brightening up every single one of our days, just by being you and being part of our lives.
You all are the best, and we love you!
