he and 2 other students were chosen by their college to compete in the statewide college-level competition. contestants who win at state go to nationals and eventually global.

Precision Machining Technology
Contestants will compete in NIMS Level I & II manual machining skills and knowledge areas including operation of manual milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and surface grinders. Contestant knowledge of CNC programming skills using a PC will be evaluated. Related knowledge and skill in the areas of engineering drawing interpretation, GD&T, technical math, machining practices, use of precision measuring/hand tools and ability to communicate verbally using proper industry terminology are also part of this competition

Hey Susan, that's awesome - and probably looks pretty sweet on a resume too!!! :) Let us know how he likes the experience.

And congratulations on 3rd place in the half marathon. You go girl!!!! Wish we had a clapping smiley. Yea!!!

not sure if i'm alone in feeling this, but as a parent of a college kid, you just want stuff like this conference to go well, i seriously hope diabetes is not an issue for him at any time... i just don't want to hear how awful the bs were and how it affected the whole compeition. :eek:

You are not alone. But, I have found with my daughter (luckily), that in during the important situations like your son is in now, she has sailed right through with no bs problems. Hope the same is true of your son.

But - it is hard not to worry. Even though they are in college, we still do that - it's our job, remember :D.
