OK so we went to the doctors today any may i say what a JOKE... NO answer as to what is going on, just discussed on what to changes basals too... and what cause low, UH i know.. THe nurse that was in there didnt really seem to listen, didnt down load any of out numbers, didnt look at the numbers that they other nurse gave her, THEY EVEN BROUGHT A SOCIAL WORKER IN ... ANd she kept asking us is there stress around for charlzie , could she not be happy at school.. bla bla bla bla........ What... im aggravated now... I am throughly disappointed in them... I miss my regular CDE That i used to deal with but she quit after 20 years and moved to anouther hospitals ER... :( .. NO real outcome except change basals and put back on pump.. The only good thing i got out of this appointment was a stupid note saying charlize can go back to school, which i should have had to get in the 1st place.............

Chandra,
Glad to hear you are going back on, but I am dismayed at the treatment you are receiving. The nurse seems way to non-chalant about the whole situation. What you and Charlize just went through was dangerous to her health. Do you have any other options for doctors out your way? It might be time to start shopping around.

Hope things improve, so that your gal can go and enjoy school.

Chandra, I am sorry for what happened. Will you pay for my flight to beat the snot out of them? I'm only 5'2 but I could get scrappy if I needed to.(I think)

It makes me so mad that you were treated this way. I was told that if I didn't make another appointment while in the office at my last endo appt. they could call social services. I said given the fact that I have written proof of your shear incompetence, I wouldn't do that if I were you. I am going to a new endo and will not require another appt. thank you. Funny thing happened, their supervisor called the next day appologizing profusely as I explained what had gone down and why we were leaving.

These people are clueless what kind of human being it takes to manage this kind of disease and how diabetes can reak havoc when he wants too. You know. We don't control what happens many times, we just pick up the pieces.

My advice, Get a new endo fast!

I'm glad Charlize is back on her pump though and soon she will be back to her normal self. I look forward to hearing about her antics soon!

Good Luck! God Bless! Hang Tough! Tami

Chandra:

I'm sorry to hear about your treatment. I would get a new endo. And, very importantly, I would get your medical records in hand from them (they have to give them to you, its the law in the US) and review before handing them over to the new endo. Don't just sign a form to have them mail everything over. Unfortunatley, sometimes the negative and biased documentation from one doc can get you off on the wrong foot with the next doc. If they refuse, just start completely over with the new doc with new information.

What?! Unreal. I am so upset for you Chandra. How very frustrating!!!! I hope you can get proper care and support from another endo in your area - we chose to travel the 45 to 60 minutes to our appointments rather than visit the endo down the street...it is worth everything!!

I hope you Charlize is stabalizing and you can get the "old numbers" back.

Good point and good luck with the pump again.

ok so
we went back to school.. wow what an event.. I had it out the principal, HE even admitted to me he was the one that said she could comeback to school becuase they where to nervouse about the lows..... UGH i went off. But outcome is they are looking in to getting her a persona aide..... Also SHE went low again.. same time every thing..,.. I have gone thru everything... dramatically lowered basals, next to none.. more than doubled her IC ratio... Adv. nurse not to correct anything over 200... she still went low... 60....... NOt as bad as it was but still, the nurse had a hard time bringing it down.... I had to call the endo's again to adv.... I also let them know how i felt about yesterday.. they applogized.. ADV to them that i am doing every thing i can and im taking it from both them and the school and still have not been able to get control of my daughters BS levels.. we are now going to try to change it so her target at school is 200 ( not 150) and the nurse is nto to correct for anything over 300.... Some thing is jsut nagging at me that this wont fix it either,... I have a feeling i have to increase I:C ratio again dramatically... this all started at a 17/1 I:C ratio.. she is now at a 30/1..... I also called ANIMAS today to talk with them.. THEY are wonderful.. I explained to them all that has happened, what we have done to no availe... we trouble shooted the pump together adn they feel its working fine, but since we have already made so many drastic changes adn have dont have much optios left they are sending her a new one and we should recieve it on saterday.. there thing is they stand be hind there product 100% and if there's no control they want to just be safe specilly since seh is so young.. I couldnt believe it..... So this drama keeps on ticking...

(((((hugs)))) to you and your daughter. I hope and pray that you get it all figured out. How frustrating it must be.

We had a similar experience with Zachary a few times over the past year. Doctors think that he is still making a little insulin (almost 2 years after diagnosis). He would have times when his insulin needs would drop dramatically for a week or so. We would literally turn his basal down to 1/4 of normal dose, but keep his I:C the same -- if we changed the I:C we would see highs post meals...but he definitely needed the dramatic decrease in basal.

Good luck. I understand how frustrating this can be.

Keep us posted!

I'm glad to see the school is getting her a personal aide. When Hunter was in K last year, I insisted. She is still with him this year. Their number can drop so quick and they don't even know it and being in school could be very confusing for them on what to do. As for the pump, we do shots, so I'm not much help there. And get a new Endo. You need to feel that they are there just for you. Each of their pateints should feel that way. Our Endo. makes us feel like we are her only patients when I call w/ a problem. That's the way they all should be, nurses included.

I hope Charlize is doing better now... I only just found this thread. I am so sorry you are having such a rough time. I hope the new pump improves things. If I were you and I had the option of finding a new endo., I would given all that has happened to you. How dare they do that to you... it shows they have NO understanding of what it takes to look after a diabetic child. (((Hugs)))
