ok, when Lauren went to diabetes camp this summer, everyone had their Rufus with them, and some of them had fake little pumps. Does anyone know where they can be found (to order one)?

Ainslee got her Rufus when she was diagnosed this summer. She got a whole bag of things from JDRF, the "Bag of Hope". I'll bet if you go to their website you can get one sent to your daughter. But I would love to get a "pump" for Rufus since Ainslee is going to start pumping (I hope! :rolleyes: ) soon! If anyone knows where to get them I would love to order one for her Rufus. She loves to give Rufus "Lantus" in the am after she gets hers, he is wonderful!

Goto the JDRF website and email your local chapter [or the one closest to you]. I just emailed them a few weeks ago and I got the box of stuff [inclusing Rufus] in 2 days. Incluse your address and phone number in your email.

I've sent in my child's name twice since her diagnosis the last of April and still haven't received him. :(

You can get Rufus by contacting your local JDRF chapter and requesting a Bag of Hope, I had great luck emailing the chapter directly rather than through the website. I am not sure about a pump for Rufus but I know that at 50/50 pharmacy they have Pumpernickel the pumping monkey who comes with his own pump. Zeb's gonna be starting on the pump in November so I will be getting him one for sure, it's really cute.

COntact your chapter directly.. We did.. I singed up as a mentor and when i went to pick up one for anouther family, they gave charlize her's and where so happy to watch her open it.. They never get to see that part

ummm, sorry for the confusion but we have Rufus, I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy a "toy" pump for him at? and yes, it was the bag of hope and she loves it :D

Try calling your local JDRF office, or whichever one is closest to you....that may be the best way to get it touch with them. Hope that you can get one ASAP!:)

I've found that for the bag of hope, JDRF encourages you to call and touch base with them. Sometimes, they want to send a host family out to meet you and deliver the bag.
The bag we got was great, it included Rufus, books, a meter, coupons and some other goodies. It really was wonderful.

My daughter recived rufus at day camp this year. I sure hope you can get find one for Lauren. Julia takes rufus with her when she needs him. He has been a huge comfort for her since being diagnosed.
