I have absolutely NONE now. My son is definantly honeymooning. It's frustrating. We had his sugars between 80 and 130 for weeks. Now, we are barely giving him ANYTHING, and he's dropping like a rock. He's 7 years old and right now is getting no Lantus, none. And his ratio is at 35:1. He's still sitting at 50-60 most of the day. So, the endo says go to 40:1. Tried it for lunch today. I'll retest in an hour. This poor kid is on almost nothing and still going low, even over night when not on anything. He'll drop 70-100 points at night. Grr...

We're still honeymooning and it lulls me into a false sense of security. Thinking this (diabetes) will not be that bad. Once we figured out Teagan's ratios she's been good. I know it's a matter of time....:(

I'm sure once the ratios are worked out, your son will be much better for a time. Diabetes is so frustrating sometimes!

I don't have anything else to add but a ((((HUG)))). It's frustrating and hard, I know!!

Our problem is that our son seems to need a LOT of insulin - he's on a 1:10 ratio in the morning, and about 1:15 the rest of the day...on top of 5 units of Levemir in the morning and another 4 at night. He's only three! It just never seems to make any sense at times :(

Those ratios change and change. In May, we were at 50:1, then 40:1 til 2 weeks ago. Now we're at 25:1 breakfast, 35:1 lunch & dinner and 30:1 bedtime. I'm thinking honeymoon is ending here just in time for school to start, great.

It's rather weird actually that it seems the older the child is when diagnosed the faster they fall out of the honeymoon. At least that's what happened to my son. He only honeymooned for about three months post diagnosis (and it was a sporadic three months at that). I was sorry to see the honeymoon end! :D

I know that you must all be going through trying times. I just hate the carb counting and "no, you're too high you can't have that" regime.

Best of luck to you all!!
