Most articles on diabetes, of course, seem to be on Type 2. As the article today reminded me, 95% of diabetics have type 2. They make up a much larger audience.

The article today was on the dangerous side effects of a maintaining a low
A1C.

Does this well informed group think that this applies to our children? My son's BS goals seem to be about the same as most of yours. I figure 100 is great and 130 is better than below 100.

I appreciate this group. I learn something every day.

Thank you

The article almost certainly referred to the ACCORD study, which looked at very tight control in adults with type 2 diabetes and was halted due to excessive deaths from cardiovascular disease. (See http://public.nhlbi.nih.gov/newsroom/home/GetPressRelease.aspx?id=2551.)

There are other studies on similar populations with different results, however.

And this study does not apply to kids with type 1 diabetes. Our goals of tight control while preventing hypoglycemia is well supported by science.
