Wow, that's a lot of training! You should feel well prepared after that! Good luck!

Ok, I am curious. Why do you have to go to pump class? We never did anything like that. And we started on insulin right away, no saline. (this was a requested from me to the drs-no saline)

Does/Is everyone supose to do a pump class? Just asking. Thanks.

Good luck at pump class! I am surprised it is so long - but it gives you plenty of time to soak everything in!

Which pump are you using? Tim just started pumping with the minimed 722. We love it! He did the online pumpschool which really helped. When we went in for training with the CDE, it only took 45 minutes because he knew everything already. Good thing he is a good fast learner. I was afraid of not catching on either, but it is not as difficult as I had thought.

Yikes...that's a lot of training.

We only had a few hours with our CDE for ours. I know some people on here have had to jump through a lot of hoops before getting a pump too thourh. Seeing a counselor, etc. we didn't have to do any of that. We had to saw the dietician, but we saw her on the same day that we had the training from the CDE...already had the pump in our hands.

That is lots of class time. Our Endo has lots of classes as well. We have advance diabetes class next Monday 4 hours I think. Then we will get scheduled for pump classs at our May endo appt.

We had a 2-hour class, but honestly, we didn't learn a thing. I can see it being useful if we had decided that we wanted to pump, but had absolutely no idea how it worked at all. It seemed to be more a legal requirement than anything.

Pump start day was pretty much the same. We did a site change in front of them. I view it more as something they needed than I needed. I would have rather just done it via phone.

That is so exciting - you can never have too much training - our endo changed their system right before we were dx and we attended 4-5 classes not including our pump training. Each time some of it was review but it also provided time to ask questions and get some things clarified! Good luck!
