When filling a reservoir, do you ever take insulin from two different vials or is this something that should not be done?

Well I would fill it up with the new one first, and then fill it with the older one afterwards (if it's not more than 28 days old). This is why - I'm constantly shoving air and contaminants in the older vial for several days. If I open a new one and contaminate it with a reservoir syringe that has already touched the old vial, then it's corrupting the new vial with contaminants.

I'm sure other people will give their opinions on this, but that was my initial thought when you asked the question. I don't think the one batch is potentially more potent than another batch, as long as they're both less than 28 days old, and we're talking Novolog or Humalog here. I'm not sure about other insulins.

I wonder what other people's responses will be on this. Good question!!:D

Ditto here. I have and do use insulin from 2 different vials but drawing it up into the reservoir the same way as Marsha described.

I have talked to someone else about that also, but they said it would not matter as long as we used the alcohol wipes before each bottle usage. Of course let it dry first.

What we have been using; I have the pen needle vials here, I find one of those will fill a reservoir, PLUS when we use the pen needle vials we dont get as many air bubbles as the bigger bottles, much easier to fill. In matter of fact, I would rather be using the little vials all the time.
