Problems with Accu-Chek Compass

I'm having problems with my Accu-Chek Aviva uploading readings to my Compass software. I've never been able to just push the buttons and go. It seems like it takes forever for the meter and receiver to communicate. I've reloaded the drivers, checked the connections, and everything. It's on COM4, but that's a free USB connection. It will finally work after many attempts to upload, but I've been here about 3 hours trying so far tonight and it's not working.

Anyone else have this problem or have a suggestion on what to try?

Mine works beautifully, but the cable still connects to a serial port. Maybe Accu-Chek would replace the cable for you? Or maybe the communication part of the meter is faulty? They are pretty good about replacing things so maybe you could ask for new ones of both :)
