I am tired. My usual influx of coffee isn't cutting it. More sleep isn't an option at the moment.

Please post your favorite tips and pick me ups.

I don't reach the exhaustion level that you all do with the small children, but when I am weary - laughter picks me up. I have a friend who can get me to laugh from my belly and I always feel rejuvenated after laughing so much.

I exercise. Get outside as much as possible in good weather. Vent to a friend.

Have lunch or dinner with a good friend
A nice cup of hot cocoa or tea with your feet up (little one napping)...read People Mag...or something mindless
Get a massage, facial or manicure or pedicure or hair done...whatever makes you happiest.
Call a friend/relative that you haven't talked to in a long time and get caught up, vent

I try to get outside even if its just a short trip the grocery or something, it always helps getting FRESH air!

I'm tired too. We had a school trip to the beach yesterday then swimming lessons so a late night home with extra BG testing.
I've just dropped the kids at school and my husband has asked me to come down and help draft 1500 lambs and weigh the top 300 or so. I love helping on the farm and being absolutely physically tired at the end of the day so I can sleep well. I vote for the fresh air with a bit of exercise idea :cwds:

Crank up some tunes and dance around:D I've got mine going now.

My hubby knows that if he hears music when he drives up...I'm cleaning LOL:D

I almost forgot, power naps are great too...I close my eyes for a 1/2 or less. Then sometimes drink a Mtn. Dew..I know...Bad, but it works.

There's also something called 5 hour energy drinks. Their full of vitamins and only the caffine of 1 cup of coffee. You can get them at the gas station..

Sometimes the laundry or dishes just have to wait 30 minutes so I can at least close my eyes even if I dont sleep. But like you, more sleep is just not in the cards right now. If I dont have a kid home sick, then I have something that 'has' to be done. I dont work right now so on the rare times I can, I will go back to sleep for an hour or 2 after the kids go to school. ( I set the alarm & keep both house phone & cell right next to me)

But here are some ideas anyway.....B12 is a great natural energy booster. Green tea is great hot or cold & also has antioxidants (sp?). Some above the head & reach your toes stretches can get the blood flowing. Also open a window or step outside and take some nice deep breaths of cold or cool air. Pumpkin seeds. Peanut butter on toast, celery, crackers or rice cakes. Drink a big glass of water & add lemon or lime.

A triple grande nonfat cinnamon dolce latte and playing Guitar Hero on the Wii w/the kids always cheers me up! :D

I usually head for the chocolate. Also putting on some music helps. I have a few songs that can nearly always get me dancing and I put one of them on. Sometimes just closing my eyes for five minutes can help.

Heather is right. Excercise is the best energy giver.
When I start to feel ike nodding off, I go outside and power walk.
Otherwise being embarassed works.. (hormones, I suppose) and uh... well... other stimulation... ;) can really perk you up.

I'm on my way to a Turbokick class at the gym after a very stressful day with D. I'm sure I'll feel a lot better when I get home :) DH will also have the kids in bed when I'm home!!

Getting out of the house and doing something with friends is my pick-me-up. I also love to go outside and weed (call me crazy!).

I've been relying on coffee twice a day since Tessa's diagnosis almost 4 years ago.
If that's not cutting it anymore, how about some exercise? I know it sounds like the opposite of what would help, but when I'm getting some regular exercise, I have much more energy and mentally I'm a much better person. I need to get back on the band-wagon myself.

My fix when I can't get a nap in is MT. DEW.:D
Or I try to get a quick cat nap during the day when my kids are at school with my house phone in one hand and cell phone in the other with cell phone alarm set, but that trick doesn't always work.....I have "answered" my alarm MANY times.

I have been meaning to try these! How do they taste? Do you really feel re-energized??

For me the trick is to get some "me-time" at some point during my day or after the kids go to sleep. I feel really energized after spending some time alone doing what I love the most.

In the morning I do need a latte to get going. Nothing else will help!!!
