Insulin Pump or would be pumpers support group Meeting!!!
Thursday, March 13, 2008
7:00 p.m.
WHITEHALL Nursing Home
7300 Del Prado Cir S
Boca Raton, FL 33433
We are on a roll…tackling some of the intimate issues that ALL of us contend with, some more obviously than others..thanks to Nancy’s openness and intelligence and her loving family. Looking at how you perceive, expect, avoid, react or overreact to low blood sugars is so basic and yet often taken for granted.
Here’s a fact that must change: women work out less than men. What I love about women is that they think of taking care of others before they think of taking care of themselves (and that must fall true to the women with diabetes.) Think about how there is room for you, too, without giving up the attributes that make us special. Of course there is the added issue of feeling we look good enough in workout clothes before we get in shape.( Have you seen Laura Bush or Hillary Clinton jogging with their secret service men lately? They could be such good role models.)
FAMILY NIGHT: Bring significant others to the group…your siblings, parents, partners..NO EMBARASSMENT allowed..we will ask each other for permission to speak..and speak only our own feelings..let us rekindle empathy for all of our positions affected by diabetes. Come without anyone, of course..and we shall discuss “in absentia”
THE POWER OF RELATIONSHIPS.
We assume marriage protects the health of men. New research shows that happily married women rebounded quicker from daily stress.indicated by a steeper drop in in cortisol throughout the day than women in less blissful unions…it seems that marital counseling may be just a s important a health intervention as a vitamin pill or a daily jog.
Reminder to consider the March 27-31st… Mastering your Diabetes Course ..at the DIABETES RESEARCH INSTITUTE..www.dri.org..if you want to improve your quality of life by improving your diabetes care!!!!st…
I, Dr. Wendy Satin Rapaport will be facilitating the group and you can reach me at 561-477-8595.
