Does anyone know of any insurance you can get with a preexisting condition? I was on state insurance, medicaid, until I was 18. After that time I was taken off due to my age. I haven't had insurance since then. I've been going to a "free clinic" for care. There, they do my blood work at a discounted price, but it's no endo. I haven't been to an endo since I lost insurance. The doctor at the clinic also set me up with a company that donates my insulin, I just have to purchase the syringes and test strips (which I have not yet had to purchase because of the large supply we saved up) Unfortunatly, I will no longer be elligible for this program starting next month because it is only a 6 month program. My mom just got a job that has insurance, and because I am in college, she can get me on her insurance until I'm 25, however you have to be employed with the company for a year before they give you insurance and she just started last week. Any advice and/or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Does your college/university offer any medical insurance for students? I know Ohio State offers a couple different options. :cwds:

Really sorry you have to go through this. I'm sure it's killing your Mom too.
Came across this:

(I googled "health insurance students pre existing" but I guess you've done something like this already.)
It looks like there may be plans out there - but one question would be...what would your out-of-pocket expenses be if you purchased all your own supplies for a year? Is this is more or less than it would cost to get a plan?

I went to www.isletsofhope.com they have a lot of stuff about insurance.
looked up about GA. Did find something about tax and that you can deduct your expenses-?like 65 %. You've probably allready looked at this stuff though.
I do know that our meter company abbott has a program to help you get the strips-think for like 20 month?
Sorry you're having to worry about this crap along with your D-this really sucks

Gosh I am so sorry to hear about this!!
My only suggestion would be, some companies do offer health insurance for their part time employees...I'm not sure how many hours of classes you're taking but maybe that is an option??

Not sure how old you are now, but I thought the Medicaid cutoff was 19 - did that change? There is another program listed which says 19 and under:
