Dean took the plunge and chopped his hair off! We're sending it off to a Locks of Love type of place. Thought those of you with boys with similar long hair would get a kick out of the off topic post. :p His ears are cold now! :D

Hooo -- big change. He does look cold! Aaron did that once -- went from nearly as long as Dean's to a really short cut. He was 13 at the time and it made him look about 2 years older.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you send the locks. My DD -9 years old wants to donate her hair but it is so thick I just don't think she is going to make it to the 10" they need for Locks of Love. It looks like Dean had less than 10 inches to donate.

Margaret, www.beautifullengths.com will take 8 inches of hair as a minimum for Pantene. He really wanted to send to Locks of Love because it's for kids, but they require 10 inches. We were not sure when we went in to the salon how long his hair would be because it was layered. This is why she had to do pigtails all over. I have lots of fun photos. :D He really had beautiful wavy thick hair, I hope it makes a suitable wig for a woman being treated for cancer. :cwds:

Way to go Dean. I bet you're saving a lot on shampoo, conditioner, and pony tail holders:D....enough to save for grad school!

p.s. I hope to someday be able to post something similar about my son
:-). His hair is to the middle of his back, also wavy, thick... He won't cut it until GWB is out of the White House.

I think his new look is handsome, and more grown up!

There will be a cancer patient somewhere with "lovely" hair. I just recently found out that a lady I knew wore a wig (I played tennis with her for about a year before she moved). I knew she had had breast cancer (though I thought it was more in the past), but it never even dawned on me that she wore a wig! My whole tennis team (minus the one friend who told us ;)) was shocked...it looked so natural.

Aww... thank you. :o

I am beyond grateful right now. Dean just called this AM. He has been hired on at a local Fortune 500 company as a summer intern!!! Yes, you must be qualified for sure, but it's also in who you know! This is an excellent opportunity. :) My boy is growing up! {teardrop**

Yea Dean! They grow up so quickly.

Thanks for the link to Pantene. My sister is going through chemo for breast cancer right now and has lost all of her hair. :( She is wearing a wig now and has inspired my daughter to grow her locks. My daughter was born in China and has thick locks of black hair...it truly is beautiful, but really hot in the summer. She asked me if my sister would like a wig with her hair; I told her that she would love it. :)

So tell Dean thank you for being so thoughtful to give someone the gift of self esteem and comfort. I know my sister is grateful for the person who gave their hair for her.

HR hasn't even met him in person! Only read his resume, cover letter, and he has a personal connection with a friend's dad working there. Boy are they in trouble!!! :p Just kidding - Dean is dynamite!

Prayers for your sister Margaret. I hope she is doing well and recovers wonderfully!!!! :cwds::cwds:
