we had a 57 tonight because of intense activity right after bolus. treated it. 15 minutes later 50! thank God for the 15 rule. we shall of course test again in 15 minutes.

Yep, that rule is there for a reason...:D You might want to give an extra snack at bedtime too:cwds:

I know exactly what you mean. That's why I love those little juicy juice boxes that have exactly 15 carbs in them just for those times.

So did his bs come up after the second test?

yes, sure. we decided to give him some apple, you know apple keeps the bgs up longer... i mean it doesnt wear off as fast as fast acting carbs do.

So did his bs come up after the second test?Ali and his parents left for their home. i'm sure they'll recheck and do the right things. Ali's mom said she'll give him some apple and reduce the basals for a few hours. yeah, they left... i'm the blue uncle here left alone to pray and cry to the Lord. they stayed here in our house a few months after dx but later they naturally decided to go back to their own house/life even though i begged them to stay with us in the 2nd floor apartment. i almost died that day.

I salute your incredible support of your nephew, which must be an enormous source of strength and comfort to him and his family.

Also glad you caught and were able to treat the low. At our end, we find that apples for whatever reason DON'T have staying power. We use 15 g of carbs in yoghurt with some raw oats mixed in, esp. at night when we want something longer-lasting.

and i salute your fantasmic ; ) efforts in mastering the art of control even on nph. i'm sure if/when you decide to switch to pumps your great problem solving skills will be there to achieve ~euglycemia.
it's really an interesting case of ydmv that apple works for us. yoghurt on the other hand has a gi of ~55 in my book and is a no-no for us when it comes to treating a low.
best of luck big bad daddy.

Not to treat a low, to make them stay up after the low has been treated..:cwds:
