Endo's office closed due to flu????

I called AGAIN this morning to try to get an answer about what Mackenzie's lab results mean and to also get some advice on Hailey's numbers lately and this is the message that greeted me

"You have reached ******* pediatric endo office. As of Monday March 3rd the office is closed due to the influenza outbreak. We will reopen on Monday March 10th. If this is an emergency please call 911. If your child is vomiting with ketones leave your phone number after the beep. Do not leave a message or speak at all, only leave your phone number. A nurse from the on call service will get back to you. Do not leave a message after the beep. If you need to speak with a nurse please call back Monday March 10th"

Am I over reacting??? What kind of message is that???

Uhhh....what?! If your child is vomiting and has ketones I would take them straight to the ER!

That is abit much.. You would think even if they werent gonna have appts this week do to short staff, there has to be one person in the office who isnt sick that could man the phones even if it is just to tell people they arent there.

When you have a problem with a doctor or their office or both, there is a dirty little way to get their attention that few people know about: report them to your insurance company. Insurance companies pay these docs most of their salaries, and when the insurance company starts investigating them for their standards of care, it gets their attention pretty quickly.

I can see closing due to flu...who wants to take their kid with D to the endo and end up with the flu? Not me. But that message is NUTS. They can't have someone answering phones? And if they must have a message whats with LEAVE ONLY YOUR PHONE NUMBER stuff? Closing down doesn't seem unreasonable but what they have left their patients with is unacceptable.

Well, I have had enough with this office. I just made an appt with a new endo and I am walking away. From fighting for the pump to fighting for the cgms to constantly calling and not receiving a call back I am DONE. Now of coarse I cannot fire them until Monday March 10th :eek:
