Sick kid, just venting.....

So we have been passing a nasty cold around lately. Jacob finally caught it, doesn't feel like eating and his numbers are extremely high. Which is one reason why I like him being on the pump. Anyways, we started a temporary basal of an increase of 30%--seems to be doing the trick for his highs. He doesn't have any ketones and hasn't since he got sick last Saturday.

I thought he was feeling better, then this evening he has a headache--this is a new symptom and usually associated with him fixing to go DKA on me. This kid can be fine and turn DKA in a matter of hours.

Why does D have to mask itself? Why can't it be straight forward? Why do I always have to wonder "Is this just a headache or is it one of THOSE headaches?"

I hate D, I hate D, and I have a long night ahead of me.

Wish he wouldn't have to have a headache at all but hoping it is non D related.

Ugh, I'm sorry! We've been fighting the "puke" bug with 2 of the kids getting it and I'm praying Tessa doesn't get it at all.
Right now I'm waiting to recheck her before going to bed. I changed her site earlier this evening, and her numbers never went down. Up to 320 at 10:30, gave a correction, and when I rechecked at 11:30, she was 430!
She's obviously not getting any insulin, so did a quick site change---she didn't even wake up, and gave a correction again. Now I'm getting ready to go see if it worked. *sigh* wouldn't it be nice to actually sleep when you're tired and the rest of the family is in bed?

Thankfully I think it is just a cold headache. Still no ketones, and his numbers were in the middle 100's--not great but still really good for being sick. He still has the headache though, but I am not as worried as I was when it first showed up last night.
