So, not sure how many of you remember, but we are still fighting (since August) to get a 504 for my dd. We have an ADA advocate, who happens to be a local attorney, working with us. We ended up filing a complaint with the Office of Civil Rights back in October. We filed it as a call complaint, using my Jessi as an example of the policy our district does. In reviewing our complaint, there are 28 children included now. I heard a few weeks ago from Bob, the OCR guy in Atlanta, that the were finishing up the investigation part and had talked with our district, and they want to do a voluntary resolution.
Well, I just heard from Bob again.. and the OCR team that has been working on this is coming to town in 2 weeks!!! I really hope they can explain the federal law to our district in terms that they can understand. He also said he would like to meet my dh and I while they are here.
