We got some samples of the Inset 30s and I used them for the first time tonight. In the Accucheck Tenders, you can see the cannula going into the skin in the little window. But in the site I put on Carson tonight, I think the cannula is going into the skin a little past the window, so I can't see it. I'm pretty sure it's in there because he felt it going in and DH said he could feel it under the skin. But I can't actually see it going in the skin through the window. Is this normal, or do I need to perfect the inserting technique? It definietly wasn't pretty tonight :o. Little brother accidentally ripped the old site out, there was blood everywhere!!! Then when Carson stopped crying, we tried the inset 30's and I screwed up the first one -- I couldn't pull out the needle!!! So I had to start over :(. Lots of tears and blood... So I'm really really hoping it went in the 2nd time, because otherwise I'll be doing a 3rd site change with a Tender in his sleep!!!

I had a hard time with the couple of samples that I had. I didn't think I could see it either and I don't think I got mine deep enough down in the skin.

I, obviously, have no clue but I just wanted to say that I feel for you, Todd and definitely Carson! Not that this helps, but we miss you guys!

Thanks, Ladies :cwds:. We miss you too Michelle!!!

It seems that the inset was working last night, thank goodness!!! Around 8pm he was at 220, so we corrected and it worked fine through the night. He was at 135 when he woke up this morning.

Carson did say that it was MUCH better than the Tender, it hardly hurt at all. It was the pulling the needle out part that I screwed up on and that hurt!!!

Hi,

We found these tricky to get just right at first too. The last few have worked no problem though -- you just need to kind of visually check the angle of the needle before pressing the button to make sure it looks right. When it's in well, you can see it going in through the window. Not that it might not be working fine while off-centre (sounds like Carson's is fine now), but ideally it's visible. Aaron had one that you could just see at the end of the window, and it turned out to be in too shallow and eventually flipped out.

Aaron likes them though -- definitely more than his hand-inserted angled sets.
