My son is 23 months old.
He has quite a few lows.
He won't take juice or popsicles as he is screaming with his mouth open when he is in a low, and the liquid just runs out.
We use icing sugar, but he can spit this out.
Does anyone have any ideas when dealing with lows in toddlers. What sorts of things do you use?

My son is 14 months old. We have a big plastic syringe (no needle on it) that we fill with 10 ml of sugar water or flat caffeine free coke. It works well when he's upset because if you need to you can just squirt it into his mouth. He chokes a little bit but most of it gets down, and once he's calm he actually likes drinking from it. We fill it with regular water sometimes and let him "practice" drinking from it as a game.

My son is impossible when he has a low. Usually when he is low it is at night and I have to wake him, he is so uncooperatve spitting apple juice and everything else out that I resorted to using syrup in a syringe. I can squirt it in his mouth and it is to thick to spit or dribble out if I hold his mouth closed. The syrup has worked really well for us.

Does your toddler drink through a straw? When my son was little, we could coax him to use the straw and sip from a Juicy Juice box or something similar.

Hello. My son is 13 months old. When he's been completely uncooperative we've had to use glucogel (hypostop) prescribed by our doctor which is a thick sticky clear gel. I use my fingers to stick it in his cheeks. It say's not suitable for under 2's on the packaging but has worked well for us.
I've also been recommended maxijul which you can add to milk but as I'm still breastfeeding I haven't used it yet.
If I can get baby to cooperate I use lucozade or near neat ribena (blackcurrant cordial you usually dilute with lots of water). I've tried most of the sugary drinks when he's been hypo and these are the two he likes the taste of best.
Sometimes if he's uncooperative I put some glucose powder into a bowl and give him something like a chupa chups normal lolly. He'll dip the lolly into the glucose powder (it sticks really well) and suck the powder off the lolly. We make a game of it as he's getting to that independent stage where he wants to feed himself.
