When Michelle (MReinhardt) made her video, she chose the perfect song, "525,600 Minutes". It was an accurate representation that every minute of every day all year long our children deal with D.
My DD was in a pageant at school today. At the rehearsal last night, as her age group paraded onto the stage, I heard the familiar tune of "525,600 minutes".
At first I wanted to cry, as I thought about the video, the faces, the insurance companies and all that overwhelms us at times. Then I began to reflect on why her school was hosting this pageant.
A 5th grader at her school, was diagnosed with a brain tumor at Thanksgiving. The tumor was removed and now he is going through chemo. His family does not have medical insurance. This pageant was to benefit his family.
All the kids in the pageant wore matching T-shirts, jeans and tennis shoes. The focus was on ordinary kids raising money for a special little boy. Winners were judged on poise and personality as they stated their name, grade and marched across the stage. No beauty - no talent.
Money is very tight at our house. My daughter wanted to use her Christmas money to pay the entrance fee for the pageant. She wanted to help a boy that has it worse than herself.
I am proud of her. She faces D boldly each and every day. Today she took time to help someone in need.
