Okay we are in the trial period with the Guardian and we have attempted another sensor tonight. But something is not right and I hope someone may be able to help?

We inserted a new sensor around 4pm today. Transmitter was fully charged and we waited 5-10 minutes to "Wet" the sensor before hooking up. Now the next part I can not confirm because my wife and son did the steps. But they said they went thru the menu and added a new sensor and got the wait 2hr message. Well around 5:30 I looked and it said lost sensor? It was within inches of the TX the whole time? So I went in and did a find lost sensor. Got the wait 2hr message. Off to scouts only to find out 1hr later another lost sensor!!! So I unhooked the transmitter and put it on the charger for 10 minutes and hooked up the transmitter and did start new sensor around 8:00pm. Maybe that was the wrong thing to do, but that's what we did after day 3 last time?? Fast forward to 10 and I to do a calibration and the thing says it in a 12 hour warmup!! I couldn't enter a BG. What am I doing wrong. Do I need to take it off and start over in the AM?

Thanks, Rick

"12 hour" or "3 hour" is just the screen your in, hopefully it will give you a reading soon!
It takes 10-15 minutes after the calibration to get a reading on the screen after the 2 hr warm up period.

When I tried to enter the BG it said it was still in warmup and would not use the BG. The screen still says 12hour calibration?? I may just leave it hooked up overnight and do a couple of checks along the way. His numbers are running great tonight so I was hoping to get some good numbers entered!!

I would call the 24-hour helpline at 1-800-MINIMED and see what they recommend next.

It is somewhat confusing but the monitor has different chart screens: 3h, 6h, 12h, 24h. You can switch from chart to chart by pressing the UP button.

The SG number is usually shown under the chart title. Sometimes, if no SG number is available there might be a brief message such as start-up, meter bg, etc.

The message and the chart title are unrelated, but they might be read mistakenly as 3h start-up, 6h start-up etc. The start up period is normally 2h. You can check when the next calibration is supposed to be -- i.e. the end of the start-up time -- on the sensor status page (press ESC twice to get there, ESC again to leave).

Enjoy the Guardian. We love it. Our current sensor is holding somewhere around day 12!!! and it is great, although we don't expect a whole lot more from this one.
