Hi everyone,
My DD has had diabetes since June of 2006. We didn't really push the pump idea until the endo nurse said that she is so insulin sensitive and the small dosages that she could get with the animas pump would probably help keep her in target. That was last summer over a year after diagnosis. We talked to Alli, told her everything we knew and let her make the decision. After about a millisecond LOL she said that she wanted a pump. So I did like any other mom and started the ball rolling. On Oct 5, 2007 the paperwork was submitted. They told me by mid Dec. we would have an answer. Mid Dec comes I call the lady processing her paperwork and she said she does not have an answer. The next week I call again. She tells me the same thing. So I call the insurance company they tell me they have no record that it has even been submitted. I cried buckets. I kept the news from Alli so she wouldn't cry too! To make a long story short it NEVER got submitted. So I fire the original Co. that supposedly submitted the paperwork. Animas decided to submit themselves. I got a call a couple of days ago that she was denied because the wrong Doctor at the endo office signed the papers. So now we have to start all over again! I am really P*****!!!!! Has anyone ever dealt with such idiots! It's not like she is waiting for a new toy! This could be life-changing for her. I'm tired of these idiots that don't deal with this disease making decisions for my daughter. I want them to look into her big brown eyes and tell her another 3months.
Thanks for listening!
Judy

I am so sorry you are having to go through this.
I would(if it was me) personally find out what paperwork needed to be signed and take them to be signed.
THen speak with the pump rep and have the training done in your house to get the ball rolling and have the pump people help speed things along.
We did not have issues with getting the pump except that our endo went out of the country right before we were scheduled to start so they had us wait a month.
GOod luck and keep us posted.

The insurance lady at our Endo office is an idiot. She couldn't get our paperwork right. So I got the paperwork from our pump company off the website and physically took it to our Endo's office for him to sign. Then I went home and faxed all of it to our pump company and let THEM take care of the insurance. We had a pump in hand 3 days later.

Allow the pump company to handle the insurance issue for you. They know how to do it and they do it well.

Sorry you had to go through this.

By having the pump people handle the insurance , we had the same experience as Andie (Twinklet). The people at Cozmo were awesome and we had a pump with in 48hrs (they even gave me a discount and extra free supplies as I told them this was my second child to pump!)

I am very happy for you all but why am I not getting the same results? I have been nice as pie. Except for firing the Co. that never submitted. (I even did that nice) I have not burned any bridges or swore at anyone even though I have felt like it LOL!!!! Please tell me your tricks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really wish you luck, we are going to the endo on Monday and I have the paperwork in hand from Cozmo as well as all my insurance requirements and plan on leaving the office with everything filled out and signed or I'm not leaving LOL. No really, I do want copies of everything so that if there is a problem I'll have back-up copies. Stories like yours have me a little more nervous now. I hope you get your pump soon!!!

I told the cde we wanted the pump process started. She let the endo and educator know. The educator went over what was required and which pump. She brought us all the info on the pump that we needed and the endo told me the papers would be filled out that very day and sent to the pump company. Of course that day was an icy day and most appts had cancelled so the office wasn't overly busy or anything. That was Tues., Fri. I got a call from Animas that they were ready for me to fax the insurance release forms. I faxed those Mon. morning by that afternoon she called to say they were ready to ship it, since our insurance req'd no pre-approval and what color did we want? We got the pump Friday. Couldn't have been easier. I'm sorry they are giving you such a hard time. Don't wait 3 months, get the endo to sign the papers now!
