My daughter (she is 12 and was dx'd Aug 06) was just tested yesterday for Celiac. She does have some symptoms (she is short, thin with slight bloating, no real other symptoms that I can tell) Anyway, does anyone know how long to expect to wait for results and if you have a child in the age range........how did you deal with this with your child? My Jess is still fairly new to diabetes and my heart just aches with the thought of her having to deal with this now ON TOP of diabetes. So many of her favorite foods that have made diabetes tolerable will be the very foods that she will have to avoid & in my head I'm thinking.....how will she ever gain weight or grow now if she cant even eat food she likes. She is 12 and she doesn't do tofu- she does pb sandwiches, 100 calorie packs and diet soda. She is pretty picky and I'm thinking this will be a harder transition for her then the diabetes has been. Am I overreacting? Is this not that restrictive? Popcorn, can she have popcorn (her favorite)? Her endo feels pretty strongly that she has this, I'm bracing myself and just want to make this as easy as it can be for Jess. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

My Jess had blood work done dec 14 and we got the positive test results last week. She dosent have gi issue sumptoms either. She is short, thin and a bloated belly. But as I look back she has said her belly hurts on and off, and she has said once or twice she didnt want that food 9 pizza, etc) cuz it makes her belly hurt.

I was so upset when i got the call from her dr, but a good friend on here calmed me down, gve me some great info, answered my million questions and i feel better now. I think my biggest fear was not knowing what this meant other then no more gluten.

Now we are waiting for our GI appt to see what to do next.

Some of the tests can come back fast...my daughter's last TTG was back in 2 days.
