This may be a vent, but i'm perplexed.
The last sensor we had only had to be pulled because it was falling out. Didn't put extra tape on it when it first started to peel up. :-(
It lasted 10 days or so , and the one before that about 9. And most of the time it was right on, or nearly so. So very trustworthy.
Got so she could be out in the snow playing and after a bit i would check what Dexi was saying and where she was heading and just have her pop a couple of g tabs. It was a beautiful thing.
Fast forward to the new sensor. Rebooted 4 times. And still nothing.
So put a new sensor in...when it needed calibration, it right away alerted to below 90 and she was 103. lovely.
but now...
1:30am Dexi said she was 267 and heading up. No reason why she should be that high. (so one would think...aha basal change time possibly). She had last checked and was 188 with IOB.

Violet BG said 145 w .60u IOB

Was going to do an experiment and calibrate Dexi and see if it brings her in line, but when I went to do it suddenly there were ???

So…3am

Dexi says she is 163 and going up.

Violet says she is 132

So decide to calibrate,

One touch ultra reads 127

Dexi now says 185 and going up

Calibrate anyway.

See what happens.

This is what is maddening and I'm wondering am I the only one. (our cgm rep gives me that impression at times. )

If I didn't do fingersticks, I would look at the 163 and the 185 and going up and say HMMM she must need some adjustments.

But since I did do fingersticks…she is lovely.

Not even talking about the false high Dexi was reading earlier.

just venting , i guess. DH is ready to pitch the thing. He's thinking for the type of management we do, Dexi is not helping us. We won't do better using Dexi than we already do. So it's hard to mention anything of what Dexi says to him right now.

thanks for listening.

Don't have a Dexcom but wanted you to know I was listening! :)

We have the MiniLink CGMS so I am not familiar with the Dexi but I do know that our CGMS can be dead on then way off. And this is pretty normal since the CGMS is measuring the interstitial fluid and not the actual blood glucose, which is more accurate. Plus, let's face it--while technology is great it is not always perfect.

I do know your frustration. I've been there. But overall the CGMS has been a life-saver and I wouldn't trade it in! I actually miss it when T doesn't have it on!!

We are having the same issues.....Dexi (as we call it also) works great usually when Rachel's #'s are not aggressively moving. We also have problems with the low alarm going off in the very early mornings (4am-waking) even though she is >100 on her One Touch Ultra. We have been using the abdomen but are going to try her bottom to see if we can get better results.

We've had our best CGMS results using T's upper arm--now we do use the MiniLink but trying other areas can be beneficial.

We also use Dexcom, although my daughter named hers COOKIE.
If I was reading properly the numbers you posted there was about a 30 point difference between blood and the sensor, right? that is not too much of a difference. Now, sometimes when we start a new sensor we will get maybe 3- 4 hours of higher or lower than normal numbers but they settle out within 24 hours. Although we are still able to see the trends occuring.
We have a major difference sometimes between just meters. THe ultra will normally read completely different then the free style with her omnipod or any other meter we have. At least 30 -50 points different.
We are normally in range from about right on to 30 points difference. With the lag time that seems completely acceptable to me. We have really caught major things from occuring but checking cookie at odd times before doing the extra finger sticks.
So, no real answers that are of help to you. Good luck. Have you called the sales rep to get a replacement for that sensor, yet? Maybe they also have some others ideas for you.
