You still have to get a new implanted sensor replacement every 6 months.
But I suppose it better than the 6x182=1092 finger pokes.

Seems interesting, thanks for the link. Although i wouldn't hold my breath that it will be approved and available in 3 years as they would like it to be.
The number of finger pokes can already be reduced with the currently available CGM technology that offers more info than this device plans to in 3 years. Of course, the CGM sensor needs to be replaced every 6-7 days as well.
The really cool thing would be implantable CGM sensor that lasts 6 months or more. :)
If the chip works it seems it would be a simple software step to allow the monitor to recieve data or send a data request every five minutes to the chip to get the same reslults you do with a CGMS. Ali

Anyone remember Norplant?

I remember Norplant. It looked like a little fan of tubes under the patient's skin. I had forgotten all about Norplant!
